Well the title sums it up. What classes are required for Med school? I'm sure they require the typical: bio 1 & 2, physics, orgo, etc etc....but do they require anything more?

Thanks

1 Year General Biology
1 Year General Chemistry
1 Year Physics
1 Year Organic Chemistry

Some schools might require calculus, and Biochem...some also require a year of English, a semester of psychology, or some other classes. But those four are the MAIN ones that are required.

Would they require 1 year of biochem or just a semester?

Some require at MOST a semester. Most schools only recommend taking biochem.

Lastly, some schools allow you to substitute 1 semester of biochem for 1 semester of orgo. 🙂

As the above poster said just a semester and most usually only recommend. But I've found that "recommend" translates to DO IT! Better safe then sorry!

My pre-med advisor was telling me that when she wished she had taken Biochem before going to Med School so I'm taking her word on that and am taking that next fall after I finish Ochem

I think my school offers biochem as a one year sequence. So I'm not sure if I can take it. Would med schools mind if I take this class in the summer at a CC? My major is non science related so I don't think I can fit it in my curriculum.
