What's Foundations of Civic Engagement about?

What's Foundations of Civic Engagement about?

We learn about how we can become engaged within the country and world by service, civic duties and rights, etc... We are meeting with community partners this week and planning a huge volunteer/service project to complete for the organization.

I took my parents' money for my tuition used it to stay in my apartment, smoke weed, and take one online class to fulfill graduation requirements, and cram for the mcat. 30/60 by the ounce. Pretty sweet. Like I smoke whenever I can. Whenever I feel liike I need to wind down from studying. Like right now.

Awesome when you can get an Rx for it. Helps with studying so much. Holy **** ORGANIC CHEM! when those arrows start sparking this way and that.

Gen Chem II w/ lab, Gen Physics I (Calc based) w/ lab, Calc II w/ lab.

How do you take that many courses and work full time? I would consider the first three classes a full plate, and I only work part time on the weekends. You must be a quick study and have some great time management skills. 😱

haha... well, thanks for the compliment.

Honestly, compared to undergrad, I'd actually say it's a light load (no big papers, no big projects, and courses that are actually worth the number of units they claim to be -- e.g., a 4-unit class that actually only requires about 6 hrs/wk of my time, including lab and lecture; instead of a 1-unit course that requires 6-8 hours/wk of my time, including lecture). Granted, I didn't generally work more than 25-30 hrs/wk in undergrad. But yeah, I tend to learn the vast majority of the material in lecture and then just brush up a couple of nights before each test. I'm also very good at picking out what matters to a prof and learning those things instead of trying to memorize the whole textbook (which I would forgot 95% of within a month after the class ending anyway if I tried to memorize that much extraneous detail). That's part of why I am such a big proponent for people taking the time to learn to "study smart" instead of "studying a lot."

It also helps to be a PB student who was high-achieving as a UG. I've already exceeded the learning curve, so 300- and 400-level science courses aren't really that challenging to me. They're simply really interesting.

I do expect, though, that those classes will be somewhat challenging. I especially expect human physio to be interesting as I lack multiple course prereqs for it. As a result, it will challenge me in that I'll be learning a lot more than most of the students in the room just to maintain the same level of performance.

Biology of Organisms w/ lab
Chemical Principles II w/ lab
Expository Writing II
Calculus I
American Culture (BOOOOOOOO 👎)

I'm taking:

Business Writing
Public Health Science
Statistics
Intro. to Sociology
Medical Terminology

I know, it looks really easy. My question is, would medical schools look extremely negatively upon this schedule? I've taken multiple science classes at the same time in the past (all with labs). The reason for my light schedule is a) I'm also studying for the April 17th MCAT (kaplan classes) and b) I've pretty much completed most of my major requirements (science classes).

Should I be worried? Do I need to add one more class (science)?
