Even though most schools don't give out schedules this early, I think most schools have had class registration.
What classes did you sign up for? Please include the grade you are going into.
If you are a senior, what major do you plan on doing?

I will be a sophomore and I signed up for
English 12 H
Pre-Calculus H
Chemistry H
AP Human Geography
Orchestra
Intro to Horticulture
Law Education (Semester) and Sociology (Semester)
Spanish 1

And I'll be taking French 2 this summer. (I'm currently in French 1)

I will be a senior woot woot!~

- Horticulture II
- Horticulture III
- AP Language & Composition
- AP Calculus AB
- Latin II
- Latin III
- AP Physics Mechanics

It's going to be a tough year........

doing pre-med (obviously lol); possibly majoring in math depending on how sane i think i will/want to be

and H means honors if im not mistaken ^

I will be a senior.
AP English
Calculus (CP)
Digital Photo (ugh required art credit)
Physics (CP)
AP World History
Spanish III

That's a full schedule at my school, so I will study for and take the following AP exams but not the classes:
AP Biology
AP Chemistry
AP Psychology

I'm not applying to college for another 3 months, but I plan to major in Neuroscience with a minor in Latin American Studies.

My school doesn't offer AP science classes or honor classes but here's my schedule;
Physics
Trigonometry/Pre-Calc
Anatomy and Physiology
English 12
Service Learning (Requirement for seniors)
Economics then Government (both 1 semester classes)

I know how you feel. I used to go to a private school where EVERYONE TOOK THE EXACT SAME CLASSES. There were no electives. Then after realizing it was a ***** school I switched to the local public school. It's better, but we still only have like 4 honors classes and 12 AP classes. A lot of the AP classes are languages or art (including music as art) which I have no interest in.

I've heard the AP Psych one is easy, but your going to do AP bio AND chem without even taking the class? Good luck with that...

I do dual enrollment during the summer, HS classes during the typical school year.

I'm going to be a junior next year. These are the classes I signed up for:

Pre-Calculus Honors
AP Chemistry
Physics 1 Honors (My school doesn't offer AP Physics)
ENC1101/English Composition 1 (Dual Enrollment Course)
Fundamentals of Speech (Dual Enrollment Course)
Functional Anatomy 1 (Dual Enrollment Course)
Biotechnology 1 (Dual Enrollment Course)
Psychology of Personal Effectiveness (Dual Enrollment Course)
Newspaper
Advanced Aerobics/Personal Fitness
U.S. History Honors
Forensics 2
Spanish for Spanish Speakers 2

*All of the dual enrollment courses I'm taking are required by my school. I'm also required to take physics and a P.E. class. I was going to take AP Calculus AB because math is my best subject, my math teacher recommended me to skip straight to AP Calculus AB (since I graduated at the top of every math class I've been in at my school), and I already know everything they're going to cover in Pre-Calculus, but my school doesn't allow anyone to take AP Calculus unless they've taken Pre-Calculus. It's really frustrating.

I smell burnout.

Haha, I agree. I feel stressed already, and I haven't even started taking those classes. My school is just stupid and makes it a requirement to take all of those classes. They also make it a requirement to complete 200 hours of community service before graduation. They think students have no lives.

My god. My school only requires 32 hours.

You should be volunteering at a hospital anyways.

Speaking of hours, I need to get pharmacy hours in. I have to start calling today :C

I feel you, mine requires 120.

I do volunteer at the hospital, but it's really hard to get as much as some of these people. (cough cough nysepop with his 300+) During the summer I will be taking extra classes, working 30-40 hour weeks, and reading 5 summer reading books. I'm sorry I can only get in the minimum required volunteering hours.

Meh, my school has some electives and cool stuff but most of it is aimed at the art deparment/students (yay charter schools!); consequently (quite like your school) most of the "academic" electives or classes that offer college credits are arts or language classes. It probably doesn't help that my entire high school population is only about some 400 people and I think I'm one of the select few in the bunch that wants to go into medicine. I was considering transferring for my senior year but it's probably not worth it considering all of the public schools around here would require me to take inane freshmen classes like health to graduate.

I'm doing both. I'm contemplating 1 or 2 Dual Enrollments over the summer. If I do 2, I'll successfully have completed 15 credit hours by graduation.....

But I do want to enjoy my summer 🙄

Its been a while but here is what I did, and I am mildly crazy

High School:
Freshman:English, History, Geometry; Band; German 2; Honors Bio
Soph: English, AP Chem; Band; AP Euro; Computers; Precalc I/Trig
Junior: AP Bio; AP Physics B; AP English Language; APUSH; Cisco Training; Precalc II/Calc A; AP Econ (Micro/Macro)
Senior: AP Physics C; AP Gov't; AP English Lit; Band; AP Calc BC; AP Stats

College: (Even though I had the AP credit for the sciences I decided to play it safe)
Additionally Labs Credit where 3 to 1 (i.e 3 Hours of class time per week = 1 unit, vs normal lecture which is a 1:1 ratio), So f5-6 units of lab a semester ate up a good chunk of m schedule

Freshman: Bio I/II + Lab; Chem I/II + Lab; Vector Calc; Diff Eq; English I/II; Chinese II
Soph: Chinese III/IV; OChem I/II + Lab; Physics w/ Calc I/II + Lab; 2 Gen Eds; Lab Work for Credit
Junior: Biochem I/II; PChem I/II; Nucleic Acids; One Biochem Lab; 2 Gen Eds; Lab Work for Credit
Senior: I took random classes here since I already finished all of my major requirements minus the senior thesis and 1-2 gen eds.

Senior thesis? So you were in an honors college?

I was part of the Honors College, but my Biochem Major had a senior thesis requirement anyways, so I was able to kill two birds with one stone.

What did you do for your thesis?

Oh... and how long was it? I'm majoring in neuroscience and I think it requires a thesis.

Pre Calculus
Earth Space Science
AP English
ACP Spanish
Aerobics
Weightlifting
Sociology
👍

8th grader, duh. Jk I'm a junior currently

Same.
Your schedule makes me feel better. I thought I was the only future senior that won't be taking like 50 AP classes.

Nah man! Honestly, as long as you have a good enough schedule and grades to get in to a good undergrad, who cares about AP in high school? This is just my opinion, but I think it will benefit me more to take advanced classes when I'm actually in college. I don't trust the teachers at my school lol!

I'm taking 3 AP classes. I chose not to "kill" myself but yet still take challenging courses in things that i'm interested in though.

I get early dismissal at 1:20 half of the year. 👍

I'm a senior currently here's my schedule:

AP Economics/AP Gov't (Both are semester long classes)
AP Calc BC
AP Physics C
Organic Chemistry Honors
AP English 4 (DC Eng 1301/1302, same thing)
AP Biology
AP Human Geo

Got a full ride to U of H and accepted into the Honors Biomedical Sciences Program (7 year med program - Class of 2017 is first class to get a chance to do it at UH!)

Excited to start college, I need a challenge already 😛

Wow, congratulations. 🙂

Additionally, when you decide you enter college, you should probably have a four year plan in terms of courses, And if you can try to have it setup so you finish all of your majors' core classes done by end of junior year, and do major electives and the rest of your gen eds senior year, so you'll have a little wiggle room.

This way, when you are flying around the country for your interviews you won't be missing as much.

He needs to be in Texas for quite some time though. That's the unlucky part. No offense to Texans.

Haha, that's true. It's like summer all year here.

Other than that I've gotten used to it, lived in Texas my whole life

I thought of applying to BS/MD programs however I want my options completely open 👍

Btw, I decided on a major in Philosophy with a concentration in religion studies

VT or TX....hmm.... Hard choice...

I would prefer warm weather all year as opposed to intolerable snow any day. I live in NJ and the winter here is unbearable to me!

It's like winter all year here. I think Texas is a nice place, but the lifestyle doesn't quite work for me.

I'm not even applying to a BS/MD program. Even if I got accepted I wouldn't enroll. Who knows if the same medical school you want to go to as a high schooler will be the same as when you're a senior. I need my options open.

Weather: Texas
People: Vermont
Summer: Vermont
Winter: Texas
Cities: Texas
Education: Vermont
Healthcare: Vermont
Owning/Starting a Business: Texas
Retire: Texas
Social Scene: Texas
Less Poverty: Vermont (Our GDP per capita is slightly lower, but we don't have a lot of "poor" people. Except in the sketchy parts of Burlington.)
Skiing: Vermont

For my BS/MD I already know that it is the UT southwestern med school. I think top 20 or somewhere around that.

Honestly I didn't mind where I got accepted into medical school as long as it was somewhere in the USA. Being accepted instate as well as a decent ranking is a huge plus for me.

The fact that I know 3 years in advance doesn't change much for me.

Edit: I shouldn't really say "accepted". Must meet the minimum requirement of 3.80 cGPA and a minimum of 32 on the MCAT. 😛

Dude... with a 3.80 cGPA and 32 on the MCAT you could get into a bunch of other medical schools. You'd even have a chance at ivies with those stats. It would be a stretch, but still pretty competitive.

UT Southwestern is 22 research and 31 for primary care. Honestly nobody cares about rankings except maybe some chicks you might meet at a bar, but they probably have only heard of the ivies (unless they happen to be interested in medicine too).

If you apply at international schools (Caribbean, Austrlaia, etc) can you come back and be an MD in the United States? I personally wouldn't mind being "forced" to stay in the Caribbean or Australia though 😉

Yes. You won't be as competitive as US trained doctors, but you can still do it. Personally I'd get trained in the US, then go to Australia.

Well either way, I'll only apply international if all my plans have failed and I'm in some serious trouble lol!

Since you're in Indiana just do well and you should have a solid shot at IU. I thought about applying to IU for ugrad.

That would be awesome dude! IU is a fun place, Bloomington is freakin beautiful and a HUGE party school. And Indiana currently has a shortage of doctors, so you'd have a good residency placement.
