I thought it would be fun/interesting to see where all of you went/are going to college and what your major is. Also if you want you can say where you are going or want to go for vet school.

I went to Cornell University for undergrad and majored in Animal Science. Now I'm headed to Columbia, Missouri to attend Mizzou for vet school! Couldn't be more excited! Good luck to everyone 😀

I'm attending Cape Breton University (which probably no one has heard of). BS in Biology, minor in Psychology and I'll probably have a chem minor when I'm finished. I'm also going for my honours next year.

AVC in the only Canadian school I can apply to. If I don't get accepted, I might apply to St. George's and St. Matthew's.

I'm studying animal science at Michigan State and will hopefully attend vet school at Michigan State CVM as a member of the class of 2016 or VMRCVM as a member of the class of 2015. I'm applying this fall. :scared:
Oklahoma State, B.S. in Zoology, and now looks like a second B.S. in Microbiology...
Wow, TT! Best of luck! 👍

I attend Auburn, working on a BS in Animal Science, and am going to U of Illinois for vet school in the fall 🙂

Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania, BS Economics with concentrations in Entrepreunerial Management, Finance, and Accounting
(Whew, that was a mouthful - only in Wharton are there no "majors").

Going back to Penn Vet in the fall.

I went to the University of South Florida...which is not really in south Florida so you go figure. Double majored in Biology and Psychology.

On the waitlists for both Mizzou and Tennessee...which means I'm hoping to get into to any school that will take me next year.

Northeastern University, hockey and illicit substances (didn't work out so well, no actual degree from here!)
Youngstown State University, BS Computer Science (woo Penguins!)
University of Central Florida, BS Molecular Biology and Microbiology, honors in major
University of California, Davis, MS Animal Biology

Starting vet school at UC Davis in the Fall.

It's been a fun ride. 😎

Not a very diverse collegiate history but:

Texas A&M University, BS in Biomedical Sciences (aka a BS in BS because you can't do **** with it unless you go to a professional school).
Andddd going back there for vet school! Whoop!

Oh and I'm working on an MBA at a local university.

Michigan State University for undergrad...worked towards a BS in Zoology but got into vet school before completing it, so I don't have any sort of undergrad degree.

Now I'm going to Michigan State for vet school starting this fall =] Go green!

Dalhousie University, BA - Double Major in Biology and Microbiology & Immunology. BA because in high school, I didn't intend on being a doctor and never took pre-calculus and Dal requires pre-calc to get into their BSc program. Only applying to UPEI - Atlantic Vet College.

B.A. from Columbia University (NY), double majored in Comparative Religion and Middle Eastern Languages & Cultures (emphasis on Iran and Israel).

Going to Michigan State University vet school this fall!

I go to McMaster University - Bachelor of Health Sciences (honours).

Applying to OVC because it's my in-province.

The Catholic University of America, BA double major in religion/religious education and music with voice as my principal instrument. Now I'm sort of unofficially working on a B.S. in biology with a chem minor at University of the District of Columbia.

Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania, BS Economics with concentrations in Entrepreunerial Management, Finance, and Accounting
(Whew, that was a mouthful - only in Wharton are there no "majors").

Going back to Penn Vet in the fall.

I'm sure you've probably answered this is another thread, but why vet medicine? I'm so curious!

Attended UF for my undergrad, getting a BS in Psychology.
Now going to UF for vet school!

Not entirely true! I have my BS in Biomedical Sciences and got a great job right of school. It helps that I live in an area with a ton of biomed focused companies/labs (Missouri). Masters would be needed to bump up the pay scale beyond a certain point for sure but no problem getting a job at all.

Undergrad at Auburn University- BS in Zoology
Going to vet school at Miss. State!

Undergrad: University of Florida, BS in Animal Science
Vet School: University of Edinburgh in the fall!

meh, Scotland is just a hop and a skip away from sunny FL. I can deal with overcast rainy season all year long, no warm sub-tropical beaches, no rum runners in Miami Beach...no Key West. lol I shall not freak out!

to add some more diversity...

Sophia University (located in Tokyo), BA in Socio-Anthropology & minor in History.

haha doesn't get more random than that, I bet.

First choice: Anywhere I get in, but aiming for VMRCVM and NCSU. Davis is a long shot, but also applying for the sake of it.

Yah but I'll bet dollars to donuts that Scotland's a lot more interesting than Miami! I mean c'mon, they fire a freaking cannon every day!

LOL don't get me wrong, I'm dying to paint myself all in red for Belfast then go dress up as a Viking and set a viking ship on fire. 😀

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo! BS in Animal Science!

Going to the University of Edinburgh this fall for their 4 year BVM&S GEP program. 😀

DogTyred posted the same thing on FB: "graduating with a BS in BS". LOL. Hadn't heard the latter part though.

👍 Maybe not a hop and skip away for me, but I'm going from CA weather to Scotland... 🙂

UC Santa Barbara 2007 - B.A. in Business Economics with an emphasis in Accounting.

I think I've narrowed down my application list to UC Davis, Ohio State, U Minnesota, Kansas State, UPenn, and NC State for the hell of it. 🙂

I'm sure you've probably answered this is another thread, but why vet medicine? I'm so curious!

Hard to answer well unless you want to read my personal statement:laugh:..

Short version ..
*20+ years was about 10 too many working amongst shallow, stab-you-in-the-back, money grubbing, egomaniacs.
*Took a leave of absence for family health reasons and decided to leave permanently (eventually).
*Multiple surgeries/emergencies for my own pets got me re-interested in vet med
*Started volunteering/taking classes and voila, here I am.

Thanks for asking. Answered this one at every interview.

I'm currently a junior at NC State and my major is kind of complicated. This is an understatement.

I'm in the process of switching from a double major in Zoology & Philosophy to being in Zoology & Interdisciplinary Studies... which is a self designed degree. Mine is entitled "Ethics in Human-Animal Interactions" (I know, what a mouthful) and is a variety of zoology, animal science, ethics and humanities classes. I also have permission to take the vet school's Animal Welfare and Ethics course as a part of the degree, so I'm super-psyched about that. I've also almost completed a minor in philosophy (being in the major does that) and genetics.

When people with less time on their hands ask, I'm a zoology major.

B.A. from Columbia University (NY), double majored in Comparative Religion and Middle Eastern Languages & Cultures (emphasis on Iran and Israel).

Going to Michigan State University vet school this fall!

Wow. That's pretty neat. And I thought I had to explain myself a lot!

Seton Hill College, Greensburg, PA, BA Biology, 1995 .....yep, I'm old
Dick Vet, Scotland entering 2010

LOL don't get me wrong, I'm dying to paint myself all in red for Belfast then go dress up as a Viking and set a viking ship on fire. 😀
Lol I was so looking forward to doing that! But then A&M just had to go and accept me. Thanks a lot guys! 😉

Maybe I'll start a new tradition. We already paint ourselves maroon for football games (well, some do). I just gotta get people on board with the whole setting a viking ship on fire thing.
We got cannons already 🙂

Wow. That's pretty neat. And I thought I had to explain myself a lot!

my undergrad courses did make for some very interesting conversation fodder with my KSU interviewers. One of my vet interviewers actually told me that he wished he had taken my classes! And having a multi-cultural humanities background has definitely come in handy many a time...

I'm going into my fourth year of a BScH Biology degree with minors in Chinese and Religious Studies at Queen's University. However, I've spent about half of my degree studying during various years/semesters/summers in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and China. I'll be applying to OVC in the fall!

  • Colorado State for my undergrad with a BS degree in Biomedical Sciences
  • CSU for vet school this fall! :soexcited:

I'm at -some school- right now, getting my BS in chemical engineering.

I'm applying to Mizzou this cycle.

Hope College (which none of you have ever heard of): B.A. In English with Writing Emphasis and Japanese Studies, German Minor.

Then, after graduation, I took a year to do my last few prereqs that I had missed at Hope, and finished one course shy of a BS in biology at Grand Valley State University.

Now, I'm off to the University of Minnesota for vet school and grad school! Proof positive that school reputation isn't all that limiting, I guess 🙂

B.S. in Biology from California State University, Sacramento. Entirely unsure where I'm applying because I don't know if I will get into the one year OChem course at a local community college.

Definitely applying to:
UC Davis
Washington State
U Penn

If I don't get into the course I'm also applying to:
Wisconsin (?)
Colorado (?)

If I do get into the course, I'm also applying to:
Kansas
Iowa

I went to Rhodes College! B.S. Biology and I was a studio art minor.

Now I'm off to Tufts for vet school!

Impossible! Guess it wasn't as obscure as my talks with profs made it seem.

I'm glad you liked the campus! That was one of my favorite parts of going there.

University of Maryland- biology
Penn Vet

Does Maryland still have the reputation of being a huge party school? Actually it was #1 party school back in my day...

haha i partied all the time, but it is definitely not the top party school. I thought arizona or florida was the top one? hmm this is interesting haha

  1. A fact we Nittany Lions like to boast frequently, it seems. Though my god, did it bring a lot of controversy this year. You wouldn't believe how many laws/rules they tried to change in regards to alcohol in town and on campus. The university itself is certainly NOT happy with that ranking!

Obviously, Penn State, BS in animal biosciences, off to enemy territory (aka Ohio State) this fall.
