I am from australia and seriously considering doing medicine in the States in the surgical field?

please inform me the necessary steps to get there?

Check out the site www.ecfmg.org and it'll explain a lot. You'll need to pass Step 1 and 2, the TOEFL (English language test although will be no problem for you) and the CSE (Clinical Skills Exam. The site www.usmle.org will help as well in explaining what each exam is like.
