They have all rejected a lot of people already. I am basing this on the SDN "Rejection" thread.

Does that tell us anything about the chances at these schools for people

1. who have been complete for a long time and haven't heard anything?

OR

2. who have interviewed and are awaiting decisions at those schools?

Play with the stats. feel free to draw conclusions for which you have no real basis. one of the most fun things about SDN.

1. Unofficial hold

2. No difference... probably the same ratio of interview:acceptance as in USNWR

they are all safety schools?

They all rejected me?

I feel like they might screen for gpa or BCPM gpa. Just a guess though...

They all have a business school?

1. I've been wondering that as well. There really is no obvious chronological order to the rejection dates for BU either.

They are all really wierd when it comes to deciding who to interview/reject. I mean look at BU on mdapplicants, I dont get their system.

Here I am grasping at straws/hope like the typical SDNer.

Is it possible that if they reject more people outright in the beginning, then they have more acceptances to give out later and still stay within their annual stats?

Full disclosure: i have interviews at georgetown and BU, early rejection at Chicago.

They are all awesome?

Didn't apply to BU or U Chicago, but got a rejection letter from Georgetown.

Guess I am not so awesome....

I'm sure this isn't the first year they've handed out rejections like candy early on in the process. They know what they are doing. I see no reason why their post-interview acceptance rate would be any different this year.

I'm not looking numbers up to back up my guess, but I'm assuming that BU and Georgetown get a substantially larger number of applications than Chicago. The number of BU and Georgetown rejections on SDN probably reflects the fact that they're such popular schools to apply to, and thus they have to reject more people.

Chicago, on the other hand, probably has a smaller applicant pool, but there are two reasons there are as many rejections on SDN to match BU and Georgetown (I didn't look at the rejection numbers, but I'm assuming they're similar based on the OP's post). First, SDN applicants seem to be skewed to the higher side in terms of stats, and probably a much larger percentage of SDNers apply to Chicago than in the general pool. Also, Chicago considers itself more of a "fit" school, and appears to quickly reject even stellar applicants early on that they don't think are the right fit (what that fit is, I have no idea). Other schools are also "fit" schools, but for whatever reason they have not started handing out early rejections en masse, and regardless, the average SDNer has higher than average stats, so most will receive rejections later on in the season. Anyway, that's my best guess as to why there are so many rejections for those three schools. Hope my rambling made sense.

very helpful. thanks.

I know off hand that BU gets 10k applications a year - you have to reject everyone and their mom to fill only 150 spots.

BTW, I know this b/c their secondary is $100 and I quickly realized that they make $1m off secondary fees every year.
