hey
I'm new to this forum but had a quick question i was hoping someone could help me with. i am a pre-pharm student at U of Iowa and am waiting to hear back about acceptance. I'm trying to line up a job in a pharmacy for this summer and was wondering what type of certification i would need or can i just walk right in? i volunteered in a hospital pharmacy last summer and got some sort of license then but i do not know if that is what i would need to work in a local pharmacy in my home town. any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. thanks alot

sorry about the vagueness of the previous message.

incase it wasn't clear - i live in iowa. also i have a "certificate of registration pharmacy technician" certificate if that helps at all

National certification would be through the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) for which you would have needed to pass the PTCE. And get registered with your state if that is required. You'll be far ahead of the people who don't have certification vying for the same job.

Good luck! 👍

what do we need to do to stop these reposts...i think there are 3 similar threads on the first page!

And you need a PTCB certification, it's not needed in most states but check into that. Also talk to pharmacy manager, tell him your goals and ambitions.
