  1. Pre-Medical
Hi,
I would like to gain some info. about applying to caribbean medical schools. I have a BA with a GPA of 2.6 and a Post-Bacc 3.75 for 24 credits(and currently taking classes) and I got a 27 on my MCAT. I would like to know if my stats are good enough to apply to the top carribbean school or what do I need to do improve my chances of admissions?

Also, What are the usually stats for admissions at top schools?

THANK YOU

I think you have a fairly good chance for all the BIG 4.

Not my strong suit but I believe teh stats go something like that:
GPA: 2.7 and up
MCAT: 25 and up
experience
Hope this helps

No one here really knows what it takes. Obviously if you had a 3.4 and good mcats you would be in at all 3 of the Big3. (I'm not putting SABA up there).
Students are not involved in the selection process, and some current students may tend to pad their stats. I would guess that it mirrors US schools, and admission gets harder when the economy sucks.
My best guess is that if you have a GPA above 3.2 and average MCATs, then you can be pretty confident that someone (Big 3) will admit you.
Beyond that it depends on the applicant pool. If it takes a 3.7 and 30 to get into Cali schools, then the 3.5 and 27 student may end up at St, Ross, or AUC.
If applications are way up, standards will be up.
When I was at AUC they were getting 7,000 apps a year for roughly 300 spots. I talked to the registrar about it and she said nearly half of those were not competitive and the classes were selected from the better apps.
Some people will be admitted and back out, some are admitted to multiple schools, some are admitted and show up. That is the purpose of the deposit, it helps them fill their spots. It's anyones guess how many are accepted, and I'm sure it is based on merit.

Ross may MERP you. St. G, no way. Auc, slim to moderate yes. SABa, not sure. Maybe yes becasue of your 27 mcat. I strongly suggest applying for a term other than the spring term. Jan or the may one.
