For those of you who have never shadowed a D.O., what did you say when asked "Do you have any experience in osteopathic medicine?" during an interview?
What do say during interview if i don't have shadowing experience?

Get yourself some crash course shadowing. Otherwise there's a chance you'll be saying "see you next year."

Ummmm...hopefully you have other experiences in medicine you can fall back up....ED shadowing, IM shadowing, FP shadowing....ect.
Its good to have osteopathic shadowing under your belt but I would think a good solid knowledge of medicine in general is key. You have to know what your exactly your stepping into cause once you in school you knwo its a long long road.
about now its a little too late to worry about getting shadowing experiences in since you seem to already have an interview. Though, if you can get it done thats a feather in your cap and a positive for this interview season.

Yea, you should go do some last minute shadowing. If not, rely on having seen a DO as a patient. You really need to do some shadowing to show that you are serious-unless you have good knowledge about OM through something else, have read books or something- and there are like 2 DOs in your state-those are the only good excuses I can think of.
I had to get some shadowing in there real quick, too. Post-secondary and pre-interview for me.

please. im sure you dont need to shadow a DO to be accepted....well at least thats what im riding on....

I got accepted without any D.O. shadowing, however I did have s solid understanding of OM and why I want to pursue it. During the interview I kinda gave them that info through other questions so it really didnt come up as a direct question. Thats all I got but I hope it helps.. Good Luck
