I have heard that IR is one of the toughest lifestyles in medicine, and most people online say call is usually q2-3. However I see some job listings that claim call is 1 week/month.

When they say 1 week/month do they mean you are the *only* person taking call that week (so literally 24/7 1 week every month) or you are on like q2 call during that week?

Every job set-up is different but so it'll obviously help to clarify with individual groups what they mean. But to me IR call 1 week/month means you're working a regular 8a-5p M-F and during those hours all IR issues at the hospital you are not seated at are covered by those on-site IR rads. Then 5pm-8am, you start taking calls from all the other sites in addition to your site. At that point, you are the only person on-call during the after-hours.

They sometimes may have locums help with additional call coverage.
