what do the hospitals ask you during the interview (for volunteering)?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Gosh, don't even worry. It's a volunteer interview, they just want to make sure you're a half intelligent and somewhat responsible individual. As long as you're not some obviously crazy guy, you're fine.

ive havent volunteered anywhere yet, my interview at the local hosp. is in a couple of days

They will do a background check to make sure you don't have any outstanding warrants, aren't a convicted child molester, etc...

Old DUIs, speeding tickets, etc don't matter. (unless you have a whole lot of them)

They will ask you why you want to volunteer and if you have an area of the hospital you prefer (ER, radiology, front desk...)

Johnny 🙂

Depending on the interviewer's zeal, they could ask you about previous positions of responsibility and your ability to maintain confidentiality...especially if this is your first medical-environment work.

don't sweat it. they just want to figure out what area they can place you in and probably get you to buy a 10-15 dollar shirt from their hospital that says "volunteer."

seriously though, i never got much out of my volunteer experiences within hospitals. it was kinda like, "follow that guy around and file his papers........... go watch them do some stitches........ oh yeah, we got lunch over there if you want a bite."

subsequently, i got fired from volunteering for skipping twice (too early on a friday morning after going out).....i didn't know it was even possible. so fourstar, as long as you show up, they should love you and it won't be a problem.
