I was just wondering how withdraws effect the my D.O GPA. What do they count as? DO they act as an "F"? How bad do they look? Would they be better than a D? Thanks, so much!

They have no impact on your GPA at all. But I would imagine that an abundance of them probably doesn't thrill adcoms's.

during my interivew, one of the interviewees had stated that he had alot of W's on his transcript (i think 10 or 11). he did have valid personal reasons for withdrawing so many times, but i just wanted to show you an example of how schools will look past the W's because i know this person had several interviews at other schools too. i'm sure one or two W's won't hurt you in the long run 🙂

What about a withdraw fail? What does that count as? My school will not allow withdraws by a certain date.

what school is this?

most schools make it a W/F after a certain date. regardless of how it affects your GPA the interviewer will probably look at it as a failing grade

If you can retake it so even if its bad on your GPA, you've got a good explanation if asked.

If you retake it and do well, you might be able to talk your advisor into going to bat for you to switch it to a W instead of a W/F.

Depends on the school!
