Hey there, I know most people discuss what's considered an early or late application submission. My question is, what would you guys think is an early interview date? Some people say anytime before Dec. is early & after Jan. is late. I have one at LECOM-B & NSU-COM, Oct 25 & 26. Although I do think & feel as if these are early, just wondering what others' opinions are.
👍

I would consider both of your interviews to be on the early side of the process. Taking into account that the general time frame for interviews is September- March and the huge volume of applications that most schools receive, interviews in the September to early November range tell me that you are medium-high competitive at both places. Also sending in a good application early ( if you did) helps a lot.

That being said these school interview 6-12 people X2-3 each week, so the closer you are to their first interview date the more spots are theoretically available for you. And if you don't receive an acceptance initially it will provide more time for your complete file to be reviewed until a final decision is made.

It doesn't matter if you interview on day one if you lack a personality and can't think critically under pressure.

i think it also depends on the school
both lecoms started interviewing in august, i know its definitely to your advantage to have your application completed with msucom by august since they start sending out acceptances the first/second week of september, but other schools (vcom for example) hasn't had too many yet. in the grand scheme of things, i think october interviews is early, as i've had friends who interviewed in march/april who were accepted. good luck!

Any interview before yours is early, any interview after yours is late

It's all subjective, but I would personally consider any interview before the Christmas/New Year holidays as early and ones afterwards (so like Jan and later) to be late. But either way, if you have an interview it's a good thing. With that being said that, I think earlier is always better. Last cycle I got 2 interviews for Feb and March --> waitlisted and never got off (however, these were for MD schools, which tend to be more competitive. I didn't apply DO last yr.)

To me, I'd say it depends on the school.

LECOM for instance started interviewing in August. AZCOM until the end of Sept. Western, beginning of October.

I don't think you can draw a line that would encompass the entire set of schools for early/late. I'd say anything in the first 2ish months is early, next 2 would be middle and the last 3-4 months is late. Its not entirely late until it gets into the feb area IMO but again that depends on the school.

+1

I agree that it depends more on the timing of the individual school as opposed to the month of the year. Currently, the LECOMs each have >50% of their classes full while NYCOM is 0% full.

Check out the "Interview Invite" thread to see roughly at what point each program is in terms of interviews.

At LECOM, July. At most other schools, September or October. For some reason, LECOM really likes to get the ball rolling early. Last year, it was generally accepted that anything after December/January was considered late.

Everyone's all caught up on what is considered late/early for applying.
Any consensus on whats early/late for interviewing for most schools (obviously schools that didnt send out secondaries until late are not typical schools ie: WVSOM still hasn't sent out secondaries and its almost mid august)?

Also people were interviewing for waitlist positions in February last cycle.
