Anyone have any advice on angle ranking? It's pretty much the only section on Bootcamp that I have trouble with. I have tried the hill technique, as well as quickly glancing from one angle to another but I can't seem to get it to stick. I'm assuming not all the angles will be 3-4 deg's apart on the DAT, but I feel like I should be prepared for that just in case.

I had two angles 3-4 apart. I had one where they were 40 degrees apart lol. Just keep hitting up boot camps angle ranking generator.

One time 14/15, another 11/15. The last 5 tests are insane though, had 4/15 on one of them. The first 5 test had more representative to the dat for me. The last 5 were not.

Lol, that makes perfect sense then. I've been working from 10-5 and saving the first 5 for full-length.

For angles around 90, I just compared them to a 90 degree angle in my mind. For angles greater than 90, I made one line flat in my mind and imagined which one had a greater incline at the junction. For angles less than 90 I usually just tried to compare their respective openings which doesn't always work because the lines sometimes aren't fully drawn out.

The thing that has helped me most is slowing down and taking more time to look at each angle, and spending a few minutes on the generator every day...I got a 3/15 on my first BC practice, then a few days ago I was in up to 11/15. I use the hill technique but another one I've heard is imagining it's your laptop and seeing which is open widest.

Try this technique, kinda worked for me. Imagine the angle is your computer and you're watching Netflix on the screen. You know how depending on the angle your laptop is at, the screen seems darker than other times and if it's situated perfectly then you can see the screen crystal clear? Try to just imagine you're watching a movie on your laptop or something and compare all the screens to see which would be hardest vs easiest to watch on.

Kinda weird but it worked for me

I would look back and forth very quickly, squint, lean forward and back, tilt my head, etc to try and compare them. I also learned to go with my first instinct for this section. It was only when I would second guess myself that I would be wrong.

I learned that my tricks only wasted my time and I scored just as (poorly) high by just looking at it and answering with "instinct" as others said.

I sucked at Bootcamp and every other website and the real dat was somewhat easier but not by much. But it turned out okay and I had more time for things like pattern folding.

I had been averaging around 9-10/15 with bootcamp generators until I finally latched on to a strategy... thanks to my fiance! She enjoys competing with me on PAT generators and she kept whooping me on the angle ranking so she finally fessed up and its worked for me! I start off looking at the outside of the angle and imagining it was a roof. Which roof would have a steeper peak vs another. Sometimes my brain won't pick an answer so then if I'm between two, I imagine one eating the other (pac man!). If I still don't have the answer at this point, I'll look at the vertices and look back and forth quickly and go with whatever my gut instinct is. I've tried other strategies that people swear by and none of those have worked for me. Give it a try and see how it goes!
