What do you do if you get accepted to your 2nd choice but still haven't heard back from your 1st?

Say you applied to two pharmacy schools -- School A and School B.

School A is your 1st choice and dream school and School B is a great school still but not your first choice. You apply to both at the same time then you get an invite to interview for School B and one week later you get an acceptance letter to School B that you must accept within 2 weeks or you lose your seat.

A week and half passes and you still haven't gotten your interview invite to School A -- you call them and they say that they are just behind and that you should hear from them about an invite next month.

What do you do? School A is your dream school and your grades are good enough to get into it, yet School B is the guaranteed thing. What would you do in this situation? I am anxious and worried about this because I have applied to 7 pharmacy programs and my dream school is one of them.

If you don't mind pay deposit to school B to keep your seat while waiting for school A. If you are accepted into school A later on, then you can quit school B and lose the money. Since school won't start until next Aug, you have plenty of time. I just pay the money and wait for school A.

And that's alright? I thought that once I put in a deposit, my other applications have to be pulled because I have committed to a certain school.

Your deposit is a requirement only for the school you are giving the money to so that they don't cancel your acceptance. Once you pay your deposit, that school assumes you will be attending but they cannot go into your PharmCAS and cancel other applications sent out. When you get accepted to your top school, you pay the deposit there and then must decline your admissions offer at the first deposit-paid school. The only thing you are prevented from doing is having acceptance offers with paid deposits at multiple schools. They will see this and let you know to cancel other offers.

wait then we cant deposit to multiple schools?

1. Accepted to School B.
2. Pay Deposit at School B.
3. Accepted to School A.
4. Pay Deposit at School A.
5. School A says, "Yo, call schools you already accepted and tell them you decline if you wanna go to School A".
6. ???
7. Profit!

I'm not sure how long you can get away with having multiple deposits. A friend of mine declined an admission, but the department didn't go in and fix it so later on they contacted my friend that they had been admitted to multiple schools and needed to decline the other. Long story short, they might catch on if you have multiple deposits paid. I would just rank the schools and decide within the two weeks deadlines whether to pay your deposit or not so you don't waste money.
