So I think my chances of getting into med school right out of college are dead.
2 C's freshman year, looking at probably a C and a D fall semester sophomore year. Even if I got straight A's from this point on, I don't think there's any recovering from that. And no, I have no excuse for my bad grades- no personal problems, no illness or family problems.

So once someone has messed up that badly, what do you do to have some chance at ever going to med school? Get my masters and then apply? Forget it???????

DO grade replacement is a thing. And so are post-baccs. You are very early in your college career and could still end up getting a 3.5~... IF you get your act together. But it sounds like you didn't learn the first time you got a few C's. If it's a D in a pre-req, you will need to retake it.

a postbacc most prob. a masters is considered a higher degree and if you've done poorly in a bachelors, it doesn't warrant a masters. you need to show mastery of pre-req courses by 1. getting your act together for the rest of the semesters and 2. depending on how well your gpa turns out at the end also considering a postbacc

you also need to destroy your mcat.

Were those science classes that you bombed? If not, then that's really not that big of a deal. Your overall GPA is going to be much easier to salvage than your science GPA.

Ace everything from now on and you'll be fine. So quit fussing.

Failing that, think SMP or post-bac, or grade replacement.

I've failed a basic biology class during my freshman year of college and received C's in general chemistry, and I am still getting a number of interviews for med school. Do well from here on out, and there will still be hope!

Upward trends are a real thing OP. Score all A's from here and you still can get interviews at MD.

I have a friend who had a 2.9 GPA and got into Mayo, Stanford and like 5 other schools this round, although he did have a 43 MCAT.

As you can see I've failed 11 courses and still pursuing med, and I'm confident I'll get in!
