This is just a scenario I was wondering about.

If I apply to multiple schools and get accepted one right away and am given two weeks to make a decision, is there a way around making a decision right away? For example what if I didn't have that school as my top choice and was waiting on another school to respond? Are you stuck with the choice of either accepting or saying no once the 2 weeks run out and holding out hope that you get accepted elsewhere?

On that same note, if this were to happen and I got accepted and said yes and then later received an acceptance to my top school, could I withdraw from the first school? Just curious as to what happens when this comes up.

You're not required to make a decision until May 15. You can always withdraw after accepting to attend another school.

Or, rather, to clarify, you are allowed to hold multiple offers of acceptance until May 15th. A school, however, may give you a deadline for deciding if you are going to take their offer or reject it; however, as long as it is before May 15th, you can take their offer and the offers of other schools.

yah you might have to pay a small deposit, around $100-200 initially to "hold" a spot, but nothing major will be due until after May 15th

thanks guys. i was just curious about what happened in this scenario. I appreciate it.

Additionally MD schools generally refund the deposit if you decide not to matriculate there and make that decision before May 15th. It's all good.

This is in marked contrast to DO schools where the deposit is generally 10x larger and not refundable at all.

Yeah I still haven't had to pay anything beyond my $100 deposit to hold my seat so technically if I changed my mind now I'd only be out $100 which is nothing compared to the cost of applications

Came in expecting this
