So I am a freshman and I have completed both CHM I,II and BIO I all with A's. I used to play soccer for 14 years before college and I stopped to try and do well in school because ive always wanted to be doctor. Well I want to go back an play at my local community college with a ton of buddies I used to play with. Would Admissions look down on the fact that I went to take BIO II and OChem I,II at the community college even though Im going to be playing soccer? Would it be a nice EC to say I played soccer? Do you think that they will understand I didnt just go to the CC for easier classes, instead to play soccer? My GPA is around a 3.85

Thanks

Why not finish degree at a 4-year but only do soccer at the CC?

Soccer as a 14yr+ passion/dedication is a great item that separates you from the rest of the pack. I personally would never take any pre-reqs at a CC, however other people have had success with this path.

Eh its a hard call. Deciding between a love of soccer and better chances of medicine. Idk It's hard to call I think that you would be better off staying at your current university and trying to play games or maybe even teach some kids how to play as a EC.

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth; 5

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same, 10

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back. 15

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Yeah, lots of advice point to not doing your pre-reqs at a CC if you can help it...

Do what I did. Play varsity soccer at a great four year college. I started for 4 years at sweeper in the backfield. Anyone gets around my goalie, I take them down and inflict pain. Hard tackles and pain. I am 6'2'' and most of the forwards and midfielders on the other teams were about 5'8" to 5'10", quick but small and wirey. I loved leveling those little guys with a slide tackle.

Good times. Med school is not as much fun.

You played "sweeper" on a real collegiate team? I haven't played against a team with a sweeper in like 8 years.

I was going to say, I played for a long time too and I don't remember seeing a sweeper in years.

Absolutely. In fact I played twice on your field at Colorado College. You guys used to be pretty good but have been going down hill since I graduated from college in 2005. You still have the same old coach who had been there for decades, the German guy, but the talent is not as good as it used to be at CC. CC had some killer forwards in my day.

My little brother graduated from Colorado College, nice school. Did you play for CC? Loved looking at Pikes Peak when we warmed up before our match and I liked your field, where students could sit on the slope by the field and watch the game.

My college alternated between a flat back four and and I played in the middle of the back line, but we often went with a sweeper and when we did, I was the sweeper. I played sweeper thoughout high school on my premier level club soccer team in high school. We played every year in major tournaments along the West Coast, and won the state title in Oregon several times.

I miss soccer.

Thanks for the responses, I think I might only take Bio II and nothing else besides some simple electives. I really wanna play some soccer since I miss it but also don't wanna ruin any chances at medicine. I currently do research and volunteer and those will continue through the fall semester as I play soccer.

Thanks

hellz yes a sweeper. versus, what, a flat back 4? unless you have some speed demons, flat back defenses get burned. i wasn't much of a slide tackler tho. i'm better when i'm on my feet.

OP - can you find a local semi-comp or comp adult league to play in?
