okay, so i haven't heard a thing from the school i want to get into, and i know my freshman year grades sucked....since i mostly took chemistry classes that year, and these grades were the worst, what would you guys think of taking extension classes at uc berkeley in g-chem, o-chem, and biochem to make up for it? you think adcoms would care?

weren't you already supposed to have taken those courses already? If you got like C's in them.. I wouldn't recommend re-taking them to make it up. Take more advanced courses to show those grades were just a reflection upon circumstance and immaturity and that you actually know your stuff and can compete with the best of the best.

Didn't you already get accepted somewhere?

If so, I don't know why you would turn that down to reapply next year. As has been discussed in other threads, schools aren't usually gung-ho about reapplicants.

I wouldn't turn down an acceptance just to retake some classes to get into a school that might look even less favorably upon your reapplying. I don't know, but that's just my opinion.

no no, i'm not going to turn down the acceptance i already have......i just want to show the adcom of this other school that yes, i CAN do chemistry....i got two C's in it as a freshman....i figure it would show them that at least i'm trying to show i can do it.....

Since it's so late in the process, I'm not sure that would make a difference. Did you get an interview at your #1 school and you haven't heard back from that, or have you not heard anything post-secondary or what?

got an interview and haven't heard back 🙁

I would say a) there's still time to get accepted, and b) probably the worst that will happen is you'll get waitlisted, at which point a letter of intent might help. I just don't see how taking these classes again would help you at this point unless you're going to reapply, which you definitely shouldn't do. If you did okay on the MCAT, which you probably did since you got interviews and an acceptance, then I'm sure the adcoms see that you're not a chemistry dunce. I would just wait it out and hope for the best, and/or write one heck of a LOI.

cool, thanks for responding 🙂

it's funny how this thread turned out to be what do you, guy, think......instead of plural guys....since you're the only one who responded 🙂

This is true! And what's even funnier is that I'm a girl! 🙂

then i'm changing the title of this thread to, what do you, girl, think! 😀
