About a week ago, I got a rejection letter... no... two rejection letters (at the same day) from Idaho State University and purdue. Ha..ha..ha... well, that is not the problem. The problem is that a few days later, one of the admission officers called me saying that I got an interview invitation. they said that they realized that they have sent me the rejection letters and now they wanted me for interview.

I'm a bit skeptical here. What do you guys think about the situation? Did this ever happen to one of you guys? Did you get accepted after the interview or another rejection letter? I'm really confused about the situation here...

Maybe it was something as silly as someone marking a list of students and ther person sending out the invites/rejections reversed the entire list accidentally. Did he give you any more explanation as to why you got a rejection letter?

I would go to the interview no matter what. Even if you choose to not attend that school, you can get some practice interviewing.

Oooh. That's rough. You could chalk it up to a simple mistake (Maybe your name/application number is similar to that of someone they intended to reject?) I would just be happy that they caught it and would still go to the interview, though. I kind of doubt that they initially rejected you and then went "Oh, what the hell... let's give JWirawan a chance! We need some entertainment."

Do you mind saying which school sent you the interview notice? (I have an interview at Idaho as well).

Heck. I would just treat this as an opportunity and just go. Admission commitee are human too, errors occur. I called Mercer and they almost lost my file if I didnt call.

I have heard some students mention things like this happening before. It is possible for office staff to mess up and send you the wrong type of letter. Or, it is possible that at whatever school you were invited to they saved too few applications to invite to interviews and had to go back and review the applications to find more candidates. As long as you are extended an offer at this time, I'd proceed as if you had never gotten the rejection letter. A school will not interview you unless they see you as someone who could potentially attend their institution. Good luck. 🙂

GO!! i had someone from admissions at Touro email me saying I would not be a candidate for an interview. After that email, i called them and she apologized saying there was a typo. Instead of "now" being reviewed, she wrote "not".
