I have just been accepted as a volunteer at the Veterans administration. However, I am planning on taking the PCAT in October, and applying for pharmacy school for next fall. My question is when should I plan on submitting my Pharmcas application? I know its a little late to try to cram it in, and i feel like the adcoms are going to view it that way. I was thinking maybe in October, because other than the pharmacy club I have very little in the way of experience. Also, I am only applying to "rolling admission" schools, so i know the sooner the better. My GPA is a 3.86 and I did receive an the pre-pharmacy award at my college. 🙂I am hoping that may make up a bit for my lack of expirience. What do you SDN folk think? Thanks for the help 😍

Submit PharmCAS ASAP, like you said, especially for the rolling admissions schools. The sooner, the better, but you know that already.

As far as your chances, well, the GPA is stellar and if you come around with a 70+ composite on the PCAT, I'm pretty sure your ECs won't even matter. That having been said... They never hurt. I'd stay on w/ the VA - At the very, very least that's another thing to put on your curriculum vitae or your resume later, you know? And, for some weird-ass reason you don't get into any schools you're applying to this year (maybe it's "too late" for whatever R.A. schools you've applied to), then you can use the VA to enhance your application.

But, with your GPA and sterling academic record (pre-pharmacy award? Sheesh, "pre-pharmacy" didn't even exist at my undergrad) compounded with at least a decent-ish PCAT and some decent-to-good LoRs and you've got a solid application I'd put my money in.

I try! People always say I'm so mean and negative, I don't know why. =/ Yeah, I definitely am a straight shooter, and I guess that bothers people in this day and age of placation and coddling but I don't think that gets anyone ahead in life.

Oh well. Much luck in thine pre-pharmacy studies and good luck getting in and moving on. Out of curiosity, what schools are you looking at applying to?

As of now, I am planning on applying to Denver, Memphis, and ETSU.
