I need some advice/opinions:

I kind of did things backwards and sent my AASDAS application before I took the DAT. I had the applications sent to eight schools. I just took the DAT and got 21AA (20 bio 21 chem, 20 org) and 17PA on my DAT.
overall gpa is 3.1 (4.0 for last three years since returning to school),
science gpa is 3.4
I'm taking Biochemistry this semsester and have an A at midterm.
60 hours shadowing dentist
officer in various science clubs.
secondary on granted research project for over a year
own my own business where I work with my hands on a daily basis.
average volunteer service
Over thirty

Statistically, it looks like I should have a decent shot for d school. Should I pare down my list a bit in order to save $$ and time (theirs and mine)for interviews (I haven't had any yet- I just got DAT scores), or should I play it safe and see all of them through?

Hey
How many schools are you applying? With your stat, i would apply from 5 to 8 schools for safety. And you should make sure to have a complete profile at each school because you want to increase your chance for interview and acceptance. It is costly but it's better to be safe than sorry. I think your stat is GREAT, but not "most outstanding" that can guarantee you a spot in a dental school; because many applicants up here have similar stat. Please do not take this as an insult, because it is not meant to be, I just want to let you know where your stat fit. Your stat can GUARANTEE you an interview but does not secure you completely for admission. So apply more school (5-8 is good enough) to make sure you get accepted.
Furthermore, since you told us that you just got your DAT scores, that means your profile is not yet complete until all your schools received your DAT transcript. My guess is you probably will get interview in late Nov or later. And any applicants with interview after Dec 1 do not have the high probability of acceptance as applicants with intervew before Dec 1 because by Dec 1, most school will send out most of their acceptance letter. ( of course given their stat are great too!)

I know it is costly to apply, but don't try to save a few buck if it means you decrease your chance of getting in. Good luck to you!
