I saw on another thread someone saying 2.9 means you don't understand the material you studied.

So now I'm curious, what are your subjective opinions on what different GPAs mean?

e.g. 4.0: obsessed about GPA

etc.

?

It means different things for different people. If you have a 4.0 GPA because you are naturally intelligent, are a good test taker, and study a little here and there then a 4.0 isn't impressive. On the other hand, if you are diagnosed ADHD, have a normal IQ, and get nervous when it comes time to take exams and still achieve anywhere near a 4.0 because of hardwork and dedication, then it is impressive. In any case a 4.0 doesn't have to be impressive. There are kids who spend 100% of their waking hours studying and going to class. The rest of us engage in recreational activities, extra curricular endeavors, maintain a job, and go out and drink and we still are able to get good grades.

Disclaimer: there are always exceptions.
4.0 means you worked hard, regardless of your intelligence.
3.0 you cared enough to try and do better than class average. Think about this. You have to have otherwise the average would be 3.0.
2.0 you're just cruising through college. GPA isn't something you're too concerned with.
1.0 You do drugs entirely too much, your GF/BF is a total drama queen and takes up all your time, you get screwed up somehow, i.e. sickness, death.
