So I'm reading about Tetralogy of Fallot in Pathoma and one of the defects listed is that the aorta overrides the Ventricular Septal Defect. I don't know what this means. I tried reading it in wikipedia but I still don't fully get it. Anyone want to help?

I believe all it means is that the aorta directly overrides the VSD, so when the ventricles contract, the blood is directly pumped into the aorta from both ventricles, which mixes the oxygenated and deoxygenated blood.

Instead of arising from the left ventricle, it is positioned between the two ventricles, which would normally place it in the area of the membranous portion of the septum. Since this area is defective, i.e. VSD, it's position overrides the defect, thus receiving blood from both ventricles.
