I plan on volunteering for a crisis hotline, will this be good EC for me to invest my time into?

OP, there's no objective scale to measure ECs by. If you do it and get a lot out of it and portray that on your application, that's worth more than any orphanage you put a week's time of manual labor into helping build. Just make the most of it.

ADCOMs have seen just about everything. Unless you're an astronaut, a Fortune 500 CEO, or anything similar, it likely won't impress them. Just make sure the EC fits well in your schedule and hopefully you will enjoy it. I'm sure that if you treat it as something special, it will look "good."
