What does this mean? "hold"

Hi, I called Midwestern University today to check the status of my application since i sent in my secondaries and everything is complete. I was told that my Application is complete but it is put on "hold" and when i asked by whom the admission department said the dean! wthen i asked her what does hold mean and she said she does not know.. so i am asking you ppl what does that mean? i do not understand at all. if someone had such prior experience or know anything about this "hold" issue please let me know. Thank You guys.

The 'hold' at Case means you have to retake the DAT and provide them the new scores asap so they can consider you for a possible interview. that's better than 'rejection' but not as good as an invite for IW. i'm not sure what 'hold' is at MW, but i am sure you'll get a letter explaining that.

I believe someone mentioned that Midwesern office is shared by other department-schools so office assistant might not necessary know details. If you informed schools that you will be retaking DAT in September your application is processed but will not be considered until those scores are received, put on hold until "completed"
