What does transmitted really mean?

I was just wondering what transmitted means. Schools seem to transmit my AMCAS every few days....some of these schools I haven't even heard from yet but they've been "transmittting" since mid july.

From what i understand, when they say that a school "transmitted" on whatever date it means that that school has downloaded your info from amcas on that date. It might take time for them to send you mail or even an email, so don't worry if you haven't heard from schools yet. Out of the 6 schools that have transmitted my info, 4 have sent me emails directing me to their secondary application. So, I wouldn't worry if I was you.
