Hi,

I submitted AMCAS in early July, then got an email 2 weeks ago saying I was verified, and I started getting lots of secondaries. Now I just got an email saying I am processed.

What is the difference betw. processed and verified? I thought they were the same things.

Verified means that they have been through all of your application materials and verified your coursework and grades, MCAT scores, GPA, etc.

When AMCAS processes your application, they have finalized the info and distributed it to your medical schools (either electronically or in paper version, depending on the school's preference). The reason you started to get secondaries from schools after just verification is that some schools send secondaries to applicants based only on the preliminary information AMCAS sends them as soon as you certify and submit your AMCAS application.

I was under the impression that the two terms are more or less interchangeable. Are you sure your e-mail two weeks ago didn't say that you had entered the verification process? In other words, you enter verification, AMCAS checks your grades, your application is then verified, and then it takes a little while for your application preparation to be finalized and downloaded by schools (processed).

Verified is just for the Transcript/GPA adjustment that they do.
After Verified, there's Processed, which means its all done and is being sent to schools, has already been sent to the schools, or is ready to be downloaded by the schools when they want it.

I pulled up this thread from last year...I got an email today saying Congratulations, your application has been processed. I looked at the application on AMCAS and it says "under review" and none of my GPA stuff is up yet. I thought verification came before "processing?"

Realizing I am being neurotic, anyone understand this?

I got an email today that said my application was verified. I pulled it up and it had my classes modified a bit and all my GPAs posted.
??

interesting...I called AMCAS and they said that email must have been sent by mistake! Not very confidence inspiring...but it is in verification so all should be fixed soon...
