What exactly did you learn in pharmacy school? More Chemistry/More Bio?

I am planning to apply to pharmacy school sometime next year and currently taking some core science courses. I am just wondering what I should expect in pharmacy school, in terms of the subjects. I am trying to analyze which topics I should focus more on... chem, bio, or other. I guessing its both, but I am just curious to see where are strengths and weakness lies.

Have you had any biochemistry classes... Personally, I feel like that was more helpful than actual chemistry. Physiology is also particularly helpful!

I'll second the biochemistry - I was just thinking the other day how much I learned in that class. I also took a very good micro class in my P1 year, but I have to say that I thought that was a lot easier to grasp than the biochem.

Yes biochem is definitely a big one you should pay attention to. A lot of it is just understanding the terms and recognizing some of the structures and interactions. Physiology is a good one too. Even if you don't do well in those classes during undergrad you'll take them again your first year of pharmacy school. The first year is just really prerequisites all over again.

why don't you look back at your prospective pharmacy school's curriculum? every year's subjects and requirements are listed there

People whom do better in less analytical **** like biology tend to do better in pharmacy school. I'm a chem/math/physics nerd and I wanted to stab myself in the head during the third year.

Try to apply everything you have learned into one class, thats what its like eventually. Pre-Pharmacy teaches the foundational knowledge. Pharmacy extends on this a bit, with biochem and pchem. After that, I believe your classes use all that knowledge from the core sciences-biochem, ochem, cell bio, etc- and apply it towards real situations.

I would suggest "effective communication" and "leadership" as the most important skills in pharmacy school and in Pharmacy profession.
