I've been looking at ergonomic keyboards and gaming keypads and wondering if they might help at work. Does anyone use these or other gadgets to make your day (even just a little bit) easier?

I use a gaming mouse. It is great. I use a logitech mouse. Things that I really like about it:

1- It has internal memory so I can go to a new computer without having to reset everything.

2- Fast and slow scroll. It has a button that you can scroll very fast and then you can switch to slow scrolling. It is great if you want to scroll very fast.

3- Multiple customizable buttons. I have customized 6-7 buttons. For example, I go to the next sequence on CT, MRI or Xray by clicking the side button. I can change to bone, lung or soft tissue windows using side buttons.

4- Ergonomics. It is great at least for me. I feel much less stress on my wrist and my fingers. If I use a different mouse, at the end of a busy CT day my index finger becomes sore.

In my practice, only a few of us had it at first. Later, we convinced the whole group to buy this mouse and now we have it at all our workstations. So we don't need to carry it with us everywhere we go.

Random, half-serious question. Do they let residents play WOW and Counterstrike on the work stations?

I'm intrigued. Which specific model you have?

If you could set hotkeys that weren't dependent on the workstation (e.g. map a button to pagedown, etc) and use it on any workstation that would be super useful. Our mice are so bad...

I use this one:

Logitech G502 Proteus Core Tunable Gaming Mouse

It is a little pricy. There are some cheaper models if you want.

Yes, you can set hotkeys that will be saved in its internal memory without the need to set it at different work stations.

Awesome. This is exactly the kind of answer I was hoping for.

I was also debating a gaming mouse, but didn't know of any off the top of my head that had internal storage for profiles. This is great. Thank you.
