Hi
I haven't reached the point where I have to submit applications for med schools. So I am a bit unclear as to if the med schools look at your amcas gpa or your transcript gpa from the university? Do the schools even receive the transcripts from the university?

The only med school that will request to see your official university transcript will be the one you commit to attending after an acceptance, mainly to prove you've graduated, are in good standing, and completed all the prerequisites with a decent GPA.

For your AMCAS primary application, you'll be manually inputting all of your coursework. When you submit your application, AMCAS will use the transcripts you send to them to "verify" that you inputted your grades/coursework correctly. This is why you need to submit all of your transcripts to AMCAS. AMCAS also totals your overall GPA and BCPM GPA (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math) per year on your application. Medical schools will see your AMCAS primary application with all of the coursework you inputted, as well as your year-to-year overall GPA and BCPM GPA trends.

The medical school that you will be matriculating at requires you to send them your university transcripts so they can make sure you completed all the necessary pre-requisite classes before you start medical school.
