Hello All,

First let me say thank you to all of you for posting and commenting. It has been a tremendously helpful tool for me.

As time passes, I start to freak out a little 😱

I'm an international student, have been here for 10 years. I applied this cycle with a 21 DAT, 3.65 gpa/ 3.79 science gpa. I applied to 9 schools with 5 in CA, except UCLA. But so far, I only heard from 3: rejected from ucsf. interviewed from unlv and Case western.
Would love to attend UPenn but no word yet....🙁

What do you think my chances are to get accepted? Why have I not heard back from any school in CA??? I'm starting to sweat, maybe I should have applied to more private schools.
I didnt take micro or even anatomy. Did that really hurt my chance?
All i can do now is to do 100% on the interviews i got...

Yeah, California schools are a little weird. I think they have a certain kind of student they look for, but I'm not sure what it is they want. I've had 9 interviews and am a California resident, but I haven't heard anything from the 4 Cali schools I applied to. I am a little disappointed they didn't give me a chance. Just be happy with any interviews because getting into any dental school is hard enough. There are many many people who don't get interviews, or they are 2nd, 3rd or 4th time reapplicants. It's a crazy process.

International students get no love from US schools, its a fact only certain schools like and accept them. See other threads on this issue. I believe the most international friendly schools are Tufts and NYU.

I am an international student too. I understand your feelings. I applied this cycle, got two interviews, heard nothing back from 15 schools, and got 5 rejection (including UCSF). I think I am unlikely to get interview from those schools that are still reviewing my documents (they have been reviewing for four months). I took all recommended courses and not sure how helpful it is (based on what I got up to now). I will just be patient and wait. Do not lose hope. You have two interviews🙂

Congrats on ur interviews...I'm glad that someone else besides me going through this process LOL
I used to think that dental schools are easier on international students as long as they have the competitive stats...I guess not... not for schools in CA anyway...
And you are right...there is still hope until end of January... hahaha.
Is this your first cycle applying??? I feel like I will be in much better shapes if my parents migrated here long time ago instead of waiting until now... LOL...

so true... however, i required couple classes i didnt take plus, if i apply, i have to retake classes from community college....

Yes, it is my first cycle. It is my third year here, so will not count on my parents.......Anyway, GOOD LUCK🙂
