What happens if you take Step2CK after July 28?

Let's say I want to take some extra time, and I take my STEP 2 CK after the July 28 cut off.... For example, August 2.

Is this detrimental to applying for the 2015 match? Will the scores really come after Sept 15? If so, how long after?

Kind of wondering... what are the test givers doing for that full month, shouldn't it still take 3 weeks to get results?

I'm pretty sure the same delay happened last year, and results were out by the first week in October. I don't think it negatively impacted many people, especially since programs look much more highly at Step 1 than Step 2.

If October is when scores come back, then thats a 2 week delay. May not be detrimental, but I was told by a program director that interview spots may fill in that first week ... and nobody is going to consider you for an interview if your CK score isn't in... basically meaning you should hold and not submit your application until all materials are in.

Thoughts? Comments? Just debating. Pretty sure I'm going to keep my date this month, but wondering if its worth the extra time to study some more and get a higher score.

Hm, the exact text of the announcement says: "Due to routine modifications to the Step 2 CK test item pool, there will be a delay in reporting for most examinees testing on or after July 31st. The target date for reporting Step 2 CK scores for most examinees who test beginning July 31st will be Wednesday, September 24, 2014. For examinees whose circumstances require that they receive Step 2 CK scores before September 24, it is recommended that they take Step 2 CK no later than Monday, July 28, 2014."

I am currently also scheduled on the 30th. It seems like we may be in a gray area but there's a chance we could get our scores without a delay.

Lol, so new questions begin on the 31st and they recommend taking by the 28th to get scores sooner. Looks like we're in the twilight zone of taking our test on the 29/30th. They'll probably run some cruel experiments on us like essay questions, VR surgery simulation, calculus, etc.

But hopefully we'll just get our scores in the standard period of time.

Looks like this testing service has been having issues not just for Step 2, but Step 1 as well. Step 1 examiners didn't get their scores back in the normal 4 week time frame but had to wait weeks after. I still don't understand this "delay" in getting scores out. The test is on computer. It's multiple choice. And now we have more delays? Awesome.

I guess it'd only be detrimental to the 2015 match if you were hoping your CK score to balance out a bad Step 1 score, right? I mean, most people I know are taking CK later than that. Who's telling you nobody is going to interview you without a CK score in?
