What happens to AOA programs' residents who don't make the merger cut in 2020?

Do they shut down and the residents are screwed? What happens to residents who began an AOA residency in like 2018 or whatever?

Those programs cannot accept any more residents. They are allowed to continue until the last accepted residents graduate, and finally retreat into a state of senescence.

Their program will be able to graduate residents until 2025. But I don't believe they can take on any new classes after 2020
