sucked. After realizing that I'd forgotten to check the "disciplinary action" box on amcas two months ago for probation from an alcohol violation that I got while a freshman, I called all 23 schools I was applying to and explained the situation. They were varying degrees of helpful, most of them just said it would be fine if I explained in on their secondary, which asked the same question. I spent 3 hours on the phone, give or take and appended my "i've really learned my lesson to the necessary apps" but then had an epiphany and wanted to share with the good people here on SDN.

In order to update an already verified AMCAS application, what if you used the AMCAS letter service to include your update and get it sent out to all of your schools. I had to get a peer letter for ucf and uf, and my buddy basically just made his account and sent his letter in, easy. That got me thinking, why couldn't I just write an update through the LOR service and expalin that its not an LOR, just an update. What does the general population think about this strategy of broadcasting a message - creative or app suicide?

DISCLAIMER:
I know this was a mistake and probably hurt my chances. I've thought about it, and don't need to hear it from you people about how bad it looks. If I did I would have posted this in WAMC. So I know its an easy target, but if you want to tell me I blew it you're not telling me anything new here

As long as you make a reasonable effort to inform the schools, you should be okay. I highly doubt this would be a deal breaker.

It probably will hurt you at some schools and not at others. I would really get to know the school I am most interested in so that they would see you more as a face and not just a name.

My question is how many of the schools would actually check?

Doesn't sound too bad. What do you mean by probation?

I wouldn't send updates through the letter service. Once a school has your letters downloaded they probably won't check again.

well that was dumb...if your going to drink when your underage dont do it where your going to get caught
