What if your science gpa is much higher than your overall gpa, but overall gpa is above the cut-off point (ex. overall gpa=3.3; science gpa=3.8)? How would most med school admissions handle that? How would it compare to someone who's gpa was the opposite, meaning overall gpa=3.8 and science gpa=3.3?

MSAR and every other admissions guide available seems to discuss the scenerio of having a higher overall gpa and lower science gpa, but not the opposite. This question was inspired by someone who bombed 2 classes his freshman year that were completely unrelated to pre-med.

I guess it depends on the school. They'll take into account your freshman year and be more considerate. You never know, some will roll with the high science GPA, showing that you can handle the course work.

Concur here; you're going to have to do some detective work to find those programs that will look past your low cGPA. As a start, your best chances will be with the lowest of the low-tier scools, like Rosy Franklin or NYMC

having an overall gpa of 3.3 and a BCPM of 3.8 > BCPM of 3.3 and overall of 3.8

I applied with a 3.45cGPA and a 3.76sGPA. I've gotten into 4 so far this cycle. You're good.
