Okay, so maybe this is a stupid question 🙄 , but I nevertheless need to ask it:

Has anyone heard of schools leaving a message if you can't get to the phone when they call? I'm going in for a multi-day Air Force physical next week, right around the time that Vanderbilt will supposedly be calling to offer acceptances to people. I'll have my cell (the main number i listed) on me, but if I'm in the middle of one of the tests, I won't be able to pick up the phone.

Consolation, anyone? 😕

they leave a message. this happened to me for 3 schools already. it's not like your acceptance will be revoked if you can't answer the phone 😛

screw it, I'd leave it on. How many calls in a lifetime does one get from a med school for acceptance. I d' just tell EVERYBODY else don't even think about calling...that way I'd know if the phone rings it is an acceptance.

It really depends on if your willing to take the consequences from your air force drill instructor..that could be bad too, but I' d leave it on. 🙄

They leave a message either with the good news or telling you to call them back. It has happened to me when I was at an interview so my phone was off. Don't worry your acceptance is still valid if they don't reach you immediately.

uh hunh... be prepared for someone to totally b*tch you out. They are so freaking mean. Until they realize you're there for an HPSP or a USUHS physical.... then they become super nice.....

When vandy called I was out studying.

The dean called my dorm and left his pager number then called my home and talked to my dad. In the end, I paged the dean and he gave me the good news.

(one thing though- If you're accepted, I think that they want a response within a week )

Hope that was some help.

I'm not sure why you can't pick up. Is this because cell phones are not allowed, or you will fail the test. or both?

I would tell the instructor(s) that you are expecting an important call (tell them what it is) and ask for permission to answer the phone. If it's not Basic Training or AIT, I can't see them having a problem with it.

and take your "Funk" somewhere else.

**To everyone else: Thanks for the posts! I know there are so many great applicants out there, and it'd be terrible to flub something like this at the last minute! Good luck to you all 😉
