When Winged Scapula posted the unmatched list for the '08 scramble, a bunch of the residency sites were listed as "A"-sites versus "C"-sites. What does the A and C mean?

I tried doing a search on SDN, but couldn't find the answer.

"A" = Advanced. Means you match into certain specialties (Rads, Anesthesia, PM&R, Derm, etc.) as a PGY-2. You also have to match in a PGY-1 preliminary year (medicine, surgery, transitional) - usually done elsewhere.

"C" = Categorical. Means that the PGY-1 year is integrated within the specific program. Spend all years at the same program.
