Can anyone elaborate on the competitiveness/stats needed for an anesthesia residency in the Philadelphia/Baltimore area?

Both cities obviously have their respective ultra-competitive programs (Penn and Hopkins), but there are also several other programs in both areas that are not as competitive, which you could probably match into with average stats. Namely, Jefferson/Drexel/Temple in Philly, and U Maryland in Baltimore.

Second. I would add, though, that both Hopkins and Penn have quite a few residency positions. That said, they are still sought after on a more national level relative to the other programs listed above.

Penn and Hopkins have 20+ residents in CA1 year with Hopkins having 8 categorical and Penn with 16. So more than a few positions available.
