I hear some people who say they turned their app in the first day being verified within days whereas most people tell me the verification process takes 6-8 weeks. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the length of that. Also, I plan on submitting by June 30th. Is that still considered early and will submitting then give me any sort of advantage?

Thanks

According to previous AMCAS verification time graphs, submitting on June 30 means that it will take ~10 days for your app to be verified. I think you would still be considered early as long as your LORs and secondaries aren't submitted too late.

The 30th probably isn't early anymore, but not late either. Apply as soon as possible, and start working on secondaries now.

On that note, what do you think is more important: Having a mediocre personal statement and submitting it now, or waiting until the 30th and having a good personal statement?

I don't mean to sound facetious, but neither. You can split it in half; improve your personal statement in the next few days and submit well before the end of the month.

From what I understand, it is more important to submit early than to have a masterpiece of an essay, though. Nevertheless, mediocre isn't a good place to occupy. It should at least be solid.

As long as you're complete by mid August I'd consider you "early," by mid to late September "on time," and anything after that "late." This is completely arbitrary and, notably, is when you should be COMPLETE, not when you should submit your AMCAS for verification. The previous years' AMCAS verification threads can be helpful for estimating how long verification will take, but ideally you would complete and polish your AMCAS prior to June 1st and submit everything shortly thereafter to get the verification process underway. Provided you planned intelligently and have everything together, there aren't many reasons why this shouldn't be possible.

I definitely disagree. Mid August is pretty late.
