What completion date is considered late? I have been complete on my end (minus committee letter packet) and the longest turnaround I had for any secondary was like 3-3.5 weeks. Since Aug 10th I have been done as I added 4 schools last minute, but either way my application wont be complete until my school sends the letter, which they claim before labor day is "on-time" so the timing for the committee is before labor day.
Are they putting me at a disadvantage I am already seeing people with II's now and complete in late July while I wont be until nearly September due to my school.

You will be seeing people with II's because they were early. Most ADCOM here echo the sentiment that Labor Day is good. You aren't automatically late for not being early.

I get that, but isn't it in your best interest to be completed ASAP? What I found the most puzzling, absolutely mind boggling was my committee recommended everybody apply early, yet they are the ones holding probably 90% all our applicants up.

Oh same here. I think it's a ridiculous formality to even bother with and am totally not surprised it ends up going this way. Of course the earlier the better, but until you're submitting late I don't think you can blame not getting accepted on your app timeline, if that makes sense. You also have to consider your typical applicant. People in my university system are still running around taking the MCAT and just now opening AMCAS.

See gonnif's post, and also keep in mind that:

Patience is a virtue, the need for instant gratification is not.

Schools stratify the apps as they come in and don't send out IIs merely in chronological order.

Secondaries are often a tax on the hopelessly naïve, if not pathologically clueless.
