Would like to start a tread on this. Looks like they will begin to process starting Jan ? What has been your experiance?

my experience with davis, you ask? rejection post 2ary 🙁

I interviewed there on December 3. I liked the school a lot.

What do you mean "process" starting in January? I don't know what that means, but they said they will have interview decisions about 6-8 weeks post-interview.

congrats, newbie. welcome to SD/\/ 😉

Hey UCSBPre-med,

When you were there, did u get a sense of their procedure for offering interviews? Previous years, folks have mentioned that each adcom member gets a bunch of files & picks a few to offer interviews. Is it still like that? Btw, how come you're not Yoda anymore?

Well to answer your first question, the answer is no.

They gave us no indication of how they pick those they interview.

And to answer yuor second question, its because I like originality...and Gleevec STOLE my Yoda idea. I'm still pissed about that, but there's nothing I can do about it. I want to be unique, not one of two Yoda's.

Lee...PLEASE give me my old username back! I don't know what happened! Or at least give me my post count!

Sorry to hear that. My avatar's been popular lately too. 🙁 When i have some more time, i'll upload another so that my ID's not confused w/ other posters. OK, I have a few other questions for you:

1) Was the admissions office friendlier in person than they are on the phone?
2) How many people interviewed on the same day with you?
3) Will they send interview invites this coming week or have they already taken off for the holidays? (I'm still hoping for some news before X-mas!)
Thanks.

hey guys, I have an interview mid january with them, but it says that my first appointment is at 8:00 am, but they also have a welcome sesion at 8:00 a.m., does this mean that I should show up to the interview at 8:00 a.m. (i's in the sacramento campus) and miss the welcome session at the UC Davis campus? If I have to miss the welcome session...then that sucks!

I applied and got rejected a few weeks back. I thought it would have been a cool place to go to school. I would have been better to save my money--I'm out of state.

Well eshaubauer, UC Davis only accepts in-state residents. Thats why you were rejected. Sorry to hear about that, you should have looked that up before you applied though.

Nefertari:
1. Terri Hall and Co. were VERY nice. They were all kind, and able to answer pretty much all your questions that you had. She's a very nice lady, and she told us that she just doesn't like phone calls. If you want to ask her or her staff questions, just do it by email. Thats her preferred mode of contact.

2. When I interviewed on 12/3, there were about 10 of us interviewees there.

3. I'd say your chances of getting an invite this week are still good. They're still in the office, I know that the adcom meets sometime before Christmas for the November interviewees.

Dr. Don
Well the Welcome session is not that good, just some convos with the med students, but later there is a tour of the medical school. I'd EMAIL Terri and give the question to her. I'm sure she can straighten everything out for ya.

Thanks for the info, UCSB-PreMed! A girl can hope! 🙂

No prob, sweetie. 😀

Well,
Actually, they do accept a minimal number of out-of-staters (like 3-4, which is basically the same as zero to me).
"Once again, information that would have been important to me yesterday!"
