I am currently a sophomore. I just took gen chem 1 and 2 and bio 1 and 2. I am going to take orgo 1 and 2 , physics 1 and 2 in my junior yr. I plan to take the MCAT in May of my junior yr. I am planning to start studying this summer. I need a MCAT prep book that is going to teach me as I study and not just review the subjects. Which prep books are best for people like me who don't have most of the prerequisites for med school under my belt yet? thanks in advance

It depends on how strong of a test-taker and/or science student you are. If you need to review content fundamentals I'd recommend EK and a different source for extra practice tests on top of the AAMC FLs. I started with EK to review basic content because it is a very efficient summary of the content. If you are already testing strong on a diagnostic or AAMC 3 (take AFTER you've taken orgo) or if you know already that you are a really good standardized test taker in general, I'd recommend Berkeley Review ALL THE WAY!

I switched to the Berkeley Review home study materials for the detail and challenge to try to get myself from 38 on the AAMC tests to 40-41. Berkeley Review teaches you much more than you need for the exam, but your understanding and critical thinking / application of the material will be incredible by the time you are finished. EK has a bunch of good mnemonics for memorizing structures and formulas. So depending on which aspect you need help with, I'd recommend BR for developing critical thinking about the material or EK to help memorize the high yield material.

1. Chad's Videos are the best in my opinion In Chem, Org, and Phy. as you watch the videos you write notes and do every quiz after the lecture. He covers about 90% of you need to know for the MCAT Sciences, I have seen very similar MCAT questions on his quizzes, on top of that use Ek1001. On top of that Do 1 or 2 passages in each science section every day, and do 2 Verbal reasoning everyday. TBR, TPR and Kapaln are all great in term of sciences, however EK101 verbal reasoning the best.
Ek1001 have a lot of question that will improve you weakness and reinforce your strength. Start with odd question only and later on if you still need more practice do the even Qs.
Do the Chads videos with practice questions for 40 days.
Take the AAMC self assessment to see where you stand, it is a great way to know your weakness. Study hard focus on your weakness but don't forget to reinforce your strengths for another 40days .
Take all AAMC FLs
Good luck

I've been extremely happy with TBR because of
1. Crystal clear coverage of difficult topics
2. Lots of MCAT-specific exam tricks.

Get ExamKrackers Audio Osmosis. Great to have a totally different way to absorb the info (MP3s)

You'll be among the last to take the MCAT in its current form! Change in 2015

Princeton review was the best for me. I tried tbr and the questions and passages were not representative of the actual test. Questions and explanations of answers were overly complicated and frustrating. Princeton review if you want comprehensive content review. If you already know everything and want a quick review of the essentials, then examkrackers. But it wont explain everything for you. For verbal, use examkrackers 101 passages. Best practice out there.

Hi, I am trying to sell six MCAT prep books. I never used them because I changed my mind (2 years ago ago) about med school, so they are brand new. l have the Princeton Review review (2010) books for Verbal Reasoning & Writing, Biology, Ochem and gen chem, as well as the in-class compendium. Also have the official guide to the MCAT Exam by AAMC, 1st ed, 2009.
You may view my CL ad here: http://austin.craigslist.org/bks/3785353695.html
Charging $30 per book.
