Love the fruits of hard labor! My office has gotten the reputation of giving good quality care, evidence based and people around the block know it sure as heck ain't no candy shop. Also, we seem to attract a lot of young adults, especially females. One of my patients even told me she heard that this was supposed to be a "hip and happenin" place.

What's your clientele like? I'm also super proud to see this in my google listing! I find the psychology of branding to be quite interesting. Even though we were not intending to project any specific kind of image. I looked at my google analytics and talked with the SEO team and they said somehow we seem to be sending the message that this is the place for young women? We're trying to optimize our image to all sorts of demographics of course.

But seriously, I am genuinely curious to see what other practice clientele looks like. For example, my colleague is big on DBT so she works with a lot of borderline personality disorder albeit a higher functioning population. While another colleague takes all comers but no government based insurance and his has a huge mixed bag of people although they also do suboxone, ketamine, and TMS which makes their clients potentially more complex. But I tip my hat off to them for taking that on because I sure couldn't. Another one of my colleagues specifically is targeting women (the name of her practice even has the word "Elle" in it) and they offer yoga, aromatherapy, and psychotherapy. So their practice is nearly entirely young adult women who are very lifestyle focused and very low in acuity.

"young" women seek mental health more than "old" men. Are you really having skewed numbers?
Maybe so and maybe not. I am well aware that MDD is diagnosed more often in women. Although, we've had a handful of geriatric patients attempt to establish care and they were not a fan of the mychart like portal, electronic communication, etc. There's plenty of elderly women seeking care too (and some men as well) but we don't seem to be getting a lot of conversions from that demographic compared to the younger people browsing the site despite the fact we accept medicare based plans. I wonder if perhaps they rely more on word of mouth or printed press. But the SEO team did confirm that there are demographics we can do better on based on the discrepancy in the conversion rates.

We also get quite a few college students even though we're not in great proximity to any college, you'd still need a car to get here from a campus. Also, we have a higher than average percentage of transgender patients. This probably though has to do with our direct marketing which makes it very clear we are LGBTQ friendly.

Also, because I’m Asian and do TMS, that’s attracting a lot of people who want to get off everything and be on herbs.

Interesting, what do you think you are doing differently to attract this specific population?

Not to be dense, but what does you being Asian have to do with attracting people wanting to be off pharmacologic treatment? I happen to be an Asian interested in opening a PP in the future, so I mean this in the sincerest of manner possible.

I think there’s this stereotype of us being focused on herbs and Asian/Eastern culture being associated with alternative treatments in general.

I'm not Asian so I have to demonstrate my commitment to holistic medicine by lighting a pharmacist ablaze with each new patient. It's played very well with the antivaxx community
