Just curious, mind sharing with us your pre-med schedule as an undergrad? Be sure to include the grade your in, what classes you take, the time your classes start, the time your classes end, what you do after you finish a day in college, like whether you work at a job, work out, EC, study etc. Here is an example of my schedule. (I am a high school senior though)

It depends on how hard you want to work yourself. Studying in college, while it requires more effort than in high school does not take up the majority of ANY college student's time.

Instead, how busy you are is going to depend on how many and what type of extracurricular activities/jobs you are doing. If you're planning on doing serious research you're going to need to block in an extra 10-15 hours a week. Add that to a part-time job at 15 hours a week and a full load and you'll be in school every day from 8-6pm, leaving you nights and weekends to do whatever fun extracurriculars you want to do.

However, if you just do school, you'll find that you have MUCH more free time in college than you ever dreamed about in high school, and you'll rediscover napping.

I do hope you go to Binghamton... Do NOT stay at home.

that will give you a lot more flexibility.

weekdays
9am ~ 2pm wake up
(9.5am~2.5pm) ~ (noon~6pm) go sleep in class and/or procratinate
(noon~6pm) ~ (1am~4am) gym, go out, procratinate...etc
(1am~4am) ~ (9am~2pm) sleep

weekends
whatever man.

While you seem to be relatively organized, I notice some gaping holes in your schedule. Between 5:45 and 6:00 AM, 9:35 and 9:40 AM, 6:00 to 7:00 PM, and 11:00 to 11:30 PM you have nothing scheduled. That's almost 2 hours of wasted time, not to mention your lazy sleeping habits of 5 and half hours per night. You're going to have to seriously get your act together if you want to succeed as a premed, but I'm sure you can do it! 👍

Wow, you are the most-detail oriented person I've seen. You have your week schedule down to minutes. In college I was lucky to even know what I was about to do in the next hour. Sounds like college will both be a great success and a great source of stress for you. Getting people together on time for group study sessions or projects will be pure gold.

Woah...you have quite a schedule....if you are serious, ill chime in with mine(keep in mind I was a double science major):

Year in school: College Senior (accepted to US allo, MS1 less than 2 weeks!)

Weekdays:

Mon: Class 9-12, work 12:30-5, class 5:30-7:30, go home--eat, check email, sleep. Maybe study...generally only if test on Tues...

Tues: Class 9-12, Volunteer 12-1:45, Class 2-3:15, home (study, homework, whatever...sometimes skip volunteering for lunch with a friend) or sometimes work 3:30-8:30

Wed: Class 9-12, work 12:30-5, class 5:30-7:30, go home--eat, check email, sleep...generally study for a couple hours (9pm-12ish?)

Thurs: Class 11-12, Volunteer 12-1:45, Class 2-3:15, home (study, homework, whatever...sometimes skip volunteering for lunch with a friend...sometimes skip both 11am class and volunteering in favor of sleeping in)

**This was also always my day for errands, going to the bank, shopping, making myself good healthy food. Also a big day for going out with friends.

Fri: Class 9-10am, Work 11am-7pm

Weekend:

Work both days 8am-7pm, tutor for extra $$ 7pm-10ish

Obviously more studying happens near test time and I did have 1 class that required studying approx. 1.5 weeks or more in advance...

Edit: Also wanted to point out that if you truely do sleep 5.5 hours a night you NEED to get more sleep...you will be more productive and efficient that way (which will free up time for more of a life outside of school). Do not study all the time starting in high school and regret a good portion of your life later...it will leave you feeling bitter no matter how successful you become.

Kinda sounds like my college schedule, haha... ohhhh good times *nostalgia*

My favorite thing to do ever was play DoTA on WC3 while pigging out on take-out (chinese or dominos) with cartoon network in the background. Man, I havent done that for ages 😡

wake up, go to class, study, sleep. Repeat

You will notice, that going to class, studying, and office hours will take over your life. You want to take on more EC's but after a certain load, its almost impossible to schedule everything so that it will work out properly. I guess thats why only a handful of superstar students get to go to the top 10 Medical schools.

its more then a full time job. its a completely different life style

The cool thing is that the way you listed your high school schedule, I don't see you having any problems at a university.

wake up, eat, classes, eat, classes and lab, some club activities, work, eat, homework and study, shower, sleep. nothing special.

I've been out for a year but my typical day would be:

6-8am - ready and some studying
8-12 - Class
12-5 - Work (front desk at an office on campus)
5-8 - Dinner and whatever
8-9 - Gym
9-1 - Study

Class and work were interchangeble depending on my classes that semester. But I always scheduled class in blocks so that I could work.

I'm not typing it all out, haha.

Yeah, its a lot of chem. Oh boy, I'm excited. *NOT*

I hate schedules. You can do whatever you want in college.

I don't think there's any such thing as a "typical pre-med schedule"....you can major in whatever you want, you're allowed to take the pre-req's however and wherever you'd like (night courses, weekend courses)...

stop being so anal, you can't live life by rationing each minute of the day.

2-5 lab on a friday! that suucckkss, come like 3pm id be clawing at the door to get out

are you at penn?

No, I'm at Univ of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) and yes that's the Pharmacy school. Anyway... I may be switching my microbio to the pharm-based microbio because 1) I've had that instructor already, so I know his teaching/test style 2) It seems a bit more interesting than the actual microbio that I am supposed to take. If that happens that schedule goes out the door because I won't have to take the Friday lab and the whole microbio slot will be MWF 10-11 and F 11-12 with a lab on Tuesday. I am kind of in a predicament because if I switch it will be into the "harder" professor that is actually intellectually stimulating, haha, and may mean a bit of a GPA drop :-x. I'm thinking of deferring volunteering to the spring semester but I wanted to start research then so I could 1) Put it on my app and 2)get the experience. Oh well, it'll work out somehow, hopefully.

(Sorry for the long winded reply)

8-9 Do homework
9-12 Go to class
12-1 Eat
1-4 Skip Class and play Halo
4 Start drinking
10-12 Play beer pong
12-1 Get laid
1-2 Post lay Halo
2-9 Sleep

haha nice... that class is just a free elective for you right? im guessing your a chem major?

I didnt think a lot of schools required their chem majors to go through that bs chem lit course

Are you sick? My senior year in high school consisted of the following:

Monday-Thursday
-Maybe goto 1st period
-Workout
-Hang out after school at the park

Friday-Sunday
-Meet up at Chick Fil A for breakfast to discuss->
-Definitely don't go to first period
-Various intoxicating agents

I honestly didn't do more than ~2-3 hours of work outside of school during the week, and about 95% of the 2-3 hours spent studying during the week was for my Anatomy/Phys class. I never took an AP class. I got into a great undergrad. I got into a great med school.

You don't have to be uptight to succeed.

the post above me is right, I had a pretty chill Senior year too, I thought it was like that for everyone.

Senior Year is the last year you get to be worry free

Most days...[this semester]

11:00 --> Wake Up (I am NOT a morning person)
11:45 - 4:30 --> Molecular Bio, Social Psych Seminar, Soc, Drugs and Society
4:30 - 6:00 --> Study, Projects etc.
6:00 - 2:00 --> Read... Have some martinis, watch tv. Party

🙂

Some days are more hectic and longer due to labs
but, besides that its a walk in the park

I did the same thing last fall (second to last semester of UG).
Then I had to get a job....🙁

1. Wake up
2. Ask the question, "Is there a test or assignment due today?"
3. If no, collect money for beer run
4. ?????
5. Profit

4:45-6:00 Dinner
6:00-8:00 Study
8:00-10:30 Enjoy my life watching tv, playing games, hanging out with roomates etc.

It is a pretty sweet life. I can't imagine waking up before 6:00 AM and sleeping after 11:00 PM. I need at least 9 hours of sleep!😴

Be honest.....

...12-12:02, get laid
12:02-1 apologize....

No, SERIOUSLY, this has never happened to me before....

by the way, that's the best reponse I've seen on this site to any question on any topic

man, I feel lazy and useless now. thanks a lot. I'm going back to bed..

My schedule for the current spring semester:

Tuesday through Thursday
8-9am wake up, eat, get ready, go to class
9-11am sit through class
11am-1pm lunch/tv/errands
1-4ish pm (only on TTh) sit through class
4ish-midnight tv, reading/review for class, dinner
midnight-230ish tv until I fall asleep

Friday through Monday
sleep in until I wake up, unless I have something I need to get up for. spend all day doing work, shopping, eating, watching tv, playing with dog.

Spring semester is awesome hahaha.

My schedule for next semester...
MWF Classes 11-3pm (plus a Bio lab from 4-6pm on Wednesday)
T Work 10am-12pm Class 12pm-5:30pm
R Lab 10am-12pm Work 1-3pm Class 4-5:30pm

Throw in some meetings, volunteering, meals, gym, etc. and that's my schedule pretty much.

You prolly shouldn't look at all the college senior schedules here. There is smth called senioritis.

My junior schedule (the most intense year of my ugrad):

MWF
7am: roll out of bed and run frantically to catch the bus
8am-2pm: class (2 one-hour breaks)
2pm-5pm (average--sometimes 4pm, more often than not 7 or 8pm): lab
8pm-12pm: go home (library on Fridays--that's my Friday night out--I know it's pathetic so shut up), dinner, and writing lab reports

TTh:
1:30-4:00pm: going to school for the single class of the day
rest of time: volunteering, writing lab reports, cramming for exams, wasting hours on the internet and MSN messenger, going out with friends

2:30am-3:30am

😀 i call these weekdays

yeah that pretty much sums up my undergrad, minus the xbox (dont happen to own one)

nowadays (sitting around waiting to start medical school)

weekdays...
1. 6:00 get up
2. 6:45 Ride bike to work
3. get off work between 330 and 6 (variable schedule)
4. (if a wed or fri proceed to step 5, if mon/tue/fri go to step 6)
5. proceed to second job from 530 till 10
6. Amuse myself (tv most likely, maybe a run or a bike ride) until time for bed
7. between 11 and 12 - sleep
8. return to step one

weekends

1. wake up between 11 and 1
2. do whatever i have to do on said weekend
3. go to work 530 - 1030

and that has pretty much been life for the last year... wow, I am looking forward to medical school, I am going to have more free time then i do now!

6:00AM: alarm goes off, hit snooze bar
6:09AM: alarm goes off, hit snooze bar
6:18AM: alarm goes off, hit snooze bar
6:27AM: alarm goes off, get up cursing, vow to go to bed earlier from now on
6:28AM: yawn and stretch
6:29AM: walk into kitchen
6:30AM: rub eyes
6:31AM: scratch butt
6:32AM: pour glass of OJ and take first sip
6:33AM: fart

Aw, heck, I can't match the level of detail of the OP. I give up.

Why are alarms' snooze button set for 9 minutes? Why not just 10? haha I've always wondered this

Lets see... as far as classes go...

Thermodynamics on MWF mornings.
Biomedical Engineering (intro) class, Wednesday evening.
Organic 1 (Tuesday/Thursday, extra-long class, mid day)
Human Anatomy (Short MWF class, afternoon)
Human Anatomy lab (Mmmmm, 5 hour labs that count for 1 credit)

My actual schedule is much more hectic, though... primarily because unlike our Islamic friend, I have no ability to stick to a schedule. Here's how the typical day went last year, which I'm expecting to stay constant this year.

8-11:00 Wake up, shower, go to class...
11:00 Lunch break, have about an hour of free time to chill w/friends
12-3:00 More class, but when not in class, spending time with friends
3-5:00 Working for my professor, making a little bit of money.
5-6:30 Eating again, usually at my apartment.
6:30-8:30 Either watching TV, or at a club meeting/being active on campus.
8:30-12:00 Scrambling to get studying done, or doing a project at the dorm.
12:00-1:00 Bedtime preparations, checking SDN, and then Sleep

i just graduated with a physiology major and biology minor...the last semester consisted of:

MWF
5:15am, get up for practice
6-8am, practice
8-10am class
10-2, a lot of time wasting in various ways, usually involves little studying
2-3pm, light practice #2
3-10:30pm, more time wasting, and probably 2-3 hours of studying in there, maybe more if i have a test coming up

T/Th
same morning practice
9am-8pm random class all day, with time wasting breaks in between.
maybe study for an hour or so, then go play guitar hero

Saturday
morning practice
doing fun stuff the rest of the day

Sunday
i actually study a little bit sunday

to the OP, wow, you're HIGH SCHOOL schedule sounds more stressful than my college schedules. The only time it was more stressful was my MCAT semester...you need to chill out

hmmm

senior year:
ap lit, ap gov, ap psych, regular calculas, conflict mediation
and I spent a lot of time in Debate, weekends and after school daily

homework time was an hour or less on most days

I maintained a cum gpa of 3.77 (weighted was 4.3)

OP you need time to relax and have fun. I'd go crazy if I stick to that schedule from high school to only get worse go to college, med school, residency, etc.
