Am I the only one thinking about this, but is PCOM and NY extremely slow about notifying students. Does anyone have a plausible explanation why they seem to be the slowest committee out of the whatever number osteopathic schools. Or... maybe they are trying to break it easy to me?
Secondly, what are some of the common interview questions I can look out for? Esp. pcom, wvu and nj.
have a good day everyone and don't worry, TO is fine.

Here is one explanation. In the current edition of the Journal of American Osteopathy, PCOM had received the greatest number of applications compared to all of the osteopathic medical schools. NYCOM was a close second. The amount of paper work for each of the schools has to be enormous! Now, I don't know whether or not PCOM's Atlanta campus is drawing away man power from the main campus and this might be a reason for why the process is slow.

I can tell you that when I interviewed several years ago, it was similar circumstance. The adcom at PCOM only meets once a month and it takes time for this process to take place. Just be patient and you'll be notified. Worst case, call the office. They are very receptive towards your concerns!

Best wishes during your interview process and warmest wishes during the holiday season.

Go Steelers.

I had my files complete at PCOM and NYCOM since August. I still haven't heard anything from both. They both take more in-state applicants than out of state ones.

I don't know if it helps (you may already know) but the common ones will be why osteopathic medicine and why their school. Those are most likely to be asked by someone once you are at the interview.

Hey,
I've been complete at all my schools since August. I heard from everyone except PCOM and NYCOM back in October but I only just got interview invitation from those 2 this week! They're just slow- don't worry, they're still interviewing people. And they are offering interview dates that are only 3 weeks in advance- so there is plenty of room. Cheer up- I'm sure invites are coming soon! 🙂

I applied to NYCOM, PCOM and other schools in July. Got November 2nd week interview with NYCOM. Got December 1st week interview with UNECOM, LECOM. Haven't heard from PCOM and UMDNJ-COM.
Medschools decide on our fate at their own sweet time and there is no other logical explanation.

I took the Aug MCAT and had my app complete at PCOM sometime in November. I interviewed Dec 16. Acceptance letter was mailed Dec 17, in my hands Dec 20.

While I was there they mentioned they had had some changes in the admissions department (staff-wise) so things had been a little behind.

I was accepted quickly but it might have something to do with the fact that I am a Pennsylvania resident, only 90 minutes from the school.

After I got accepted to DMU I stopped calling and waiting. Just got invited to UNECOM. Haven't heard from PCOM for a long time.

But yeah now that's the way to do it.

haha, thats funny.

What do PCOM AND NYCOM do? Swim.

i've been complete at PCOM since July. no word. yes, thats right July, its about to be 6months. cool, technically i can more than an entire year before i ever hear from them.

nycom, i was told by a director of admissions in early october that my application was on hold until i could clarify some course credit issues by sending them my transcripts. the adcomm member suggested i have the transcripts sent personally to their attention to speed up the process and gave me a slightly different address than the one on the website.

hmm, i ordered transcripts to be sent 4 different times, checking every 10 days to see if they had been received or not. after 6 weeks of this, i emailed and asked if the address was correct, the director of admissions assured me it was. hmm, another transcript request. 10 days later, still not received. this time i called the admissions office, and the nice lady who answered the phone said, um no, thats not the right address. we're sorry about that. 2+months, gone. the 6th transcript did get there though.

good thing that school wasn't my first choice to begin with it. and even if it had been, i doubt it would be now.
