arrival time you would book for a flight the night before an interview?

I have one coming up in a city I've never been to. I think my flight lands at 5:30 and the interview is 9:00 am the next day. Fortunately, my hotel is only a block from the campus. Do you think this will allow me plenty of time to figure out where I am going in the morning?

Um I guess I'm confused but why wouldn't it be enough time? Just prepare everything prior to flying out - print out a map of campus, make a list of addresses/phone numbers, plan out your route to campus, etc. The morning of your interview, just give yourself enough time to get ready, walk to campus, eat, and review notes if you want.

I booked a few flights that arrived around 9 pm local time, with interviews staring at 8:30 or 9 am the next day and never had a problem. You should be fine, just get all of your stuff prepared beforehand, as MiniMoo said.

I am THE FREAKING WORST at directions. I could get lost in a square room. Get yourself an iphone with a GPS app...you will NEVER regret it. At the very least, the Google maps app.

Yes, if your hotel is a block from the campus you should be fine. I always tried to get in early in the afternoon the day before. At my interview in Nevada my checked bag was re-routed on another plane to Denver. Luckily, I arrived early enough that they sent it to me on another plane and I received it at about 10pm. Just something to think about. That is the first time I have ever had an issue with a bag. Had I arrived any later I would have been going to my interview in shorts and flip-flops!

You have more than enough time.

This is why you don't ever check your luggage for interviews. I keep my bag duct taped to my body.

Yes, but I dont think they will let me carry on a suit bag...

You mean a suit foldup type bag (the kind you hang up) in addition to a carry on? I've done it on all of my OOS interviews. Just nicely ask a stewardess to hang it up for you when you board. They usually stick it in a little coat closet up by first class.

I was just informed that the term "stewardess" is somewhat offensive. Excuse me... flight attendant. 🙄

Sure they will. You're allowed 1 carry on item + one personal item. Get a garment bag and a backpack. I was able to fit all of my clothes for 2ish days plus a suit in both of those, along with my laptop and whatever else I needed. No luggage fees, no lost suit.
