I think this is something we can all answer... I thought the worst part of application was the personal statement. Mainly due to the length restrictions. However, once it was done, I felt really accomplished and it actually helped me understand myself more.

Also, having to type all of those descriptions for vet/animal experience. ugh.

I would have to say the supplemental apps are killing me, what's with all the essays, anyway?

Oh, I have been in college a total of about 8 years (2nd bach), so putting in all of my courses has been a real treat (and a little depressing at times)🙄

I think the worst part is realizing were you're lacking and trying to improve in that area. Especially if that area is your GPA. Yuck. The application itself is fine, I think... maybe doing all the supplementals gets old pretty fast.

I really hated how everything cost you. Stupid transcripts got expensive after sending out like 12 of them. Supplemental apps cost you. VMCAS is expensive. Not using VMCAS, you still have to pay the school app fee. Sending out GRE scores will cost you (if you use up the your 4 free ones). It's an expensive process.

I used VMCAS and WSU's online form. So I got to type all of everthing in twice. Fun, fun times. (WSU didn't have a word limit, unlike VMCAS)

I did a post bacc too, so I had a ton of crazy classes and transcripts to order. That was probably the worst part for me-- the p.s was no picnic either.

For me, trying to put my feelings into words is the hardest part. I KNOW I want to be a vet. Explaining why in words is very difficult though! 😕

The personal statement, explanation essay, and supplemental applications all require that and I keep putting it off.

The most annoying part was the repetition on the supplementals. You basically wrote everything you put in vmcas all over again and then some more. You enter all your courses on vmcas and then reenter them--just look at vmcas!

The waiting, hands down.

I also vote for the waiting...waiting to hear if you get an interview...waiting to hear if you have been accepted...and waiting on the waitlist.👎

Sending all of the transcripts from all institutions, and making sure the schools receive them.
It's ridiculous that VMCAS doesn't handle that for applicants.

My lack of creativity slash tendency to procrastinate made the personal essay hardest for sure !! Next on the list was the supp apps followed by the counting of hours for animal, veterinary, and other experiences. 👎

The waiting ... having to wait 3-5 MONTHS to hear a peep from schools. Ordering and corralling 4 transcripts to send to 6 schools was a close second.

well besides the waiting which is obviously most frusterating...if you applied to more than one school, the most annoying part is keeping up with allthe individual deadlines. I suggest making an excel spreadsheet and just documenting everything you need and when it's due.

As a 37 y.o. non-trad, the most annoying thing was detailing every single course I had ever taken (I mean, freshman year phys ed? c'mon!) from seven different schools (I have a master's degree) and, if that wasn't enough, repeating the task on all the supps! Oh, and that due to the way the apps are set up, there was almost no copying and pasting. Just thinking about doing it again this year (with even more courses!) makes even physics look interesting 😛!

The most annoying thing is applying again on a blank VMCAS. I love how they purge everything and let you start over. When I see their animals, I'm going to make them fill out the new client form each and every time, and act like I never saw them before. I'm glad I got in on my 2nd try.

Also annoying and VMCAS related is that the office can really bungle things. The first time around, they lost the paper LoR (registered on e-LoR) sent by one of my employers. No problem, we'll just fax another one. Except, they apparently throw everything out that comes over the fax machine. Call them up and warn them that the fax is coming? Well, between the time I called and the time they received the fax, they forgot it was coming and threw it out. On the 4th or 5th try, I had to ask the person on the other end to stay on the line while they sent someone to the "fax room" to pick it up, and they finally got it.

No problems this time around, so I guess they worked out the bugs. 😛

I'm in the filling out the course list camp. It was pretty painful, and depressing (remembering when college was comparatively easy and fun).

My first thought was the GRE, taking that pretty much sucked. Then I thought about drawing out various reaction mechanisms hundreds of times for Orgo...... yea that pretty much sucked too. Biochem. was a real peach, Meyerhof-Embden sequence my ^%&. Anyway, the absolute worst however was the waiting!

What is the most annoying part of applying?

doing it 3 times. blah

listing all my coursework was definitely the most annoying!! I had 5yrs worth of undergrad courses to list (switched majors 1/2 way thru) and I have master's degree. it was so tedious filling out and it took forever to do!!! ugh, glad that's done.

Rosemma, I'm with you on the personal statement being the worst part. But I didn't do mine yet so hopefully I'll feel the same as you do when I'm done. I keep procrastinating because I just don't know how to sound different from everyone else.

Asking for recommendations was a pain too - simple enough, but I always hate asking other people to do things for me.

I definitely agree with asking for recommendations and the personal statement. It's like pulling teeth to have to talk about yourself or ask someone else to talk about you.

I am definitely not a "me" salesman, and that is why I'm doing this (applying) again.

I'd have to say the LORs were my least favorite. First of all, I have a hard time asking others for favors. But getting a LOR from a professor is really no fun if you apply long after you've graduated and moved away. I had to e-mail: "remember me? remember how you promised me you would write me a letter two years ago?" Hehe, and then getting eLORS from my old school, computer illiterate vets...what a battle! "What do you mean I can't just use a typewriter?" 😕

Shh, LVT2DVM might come and one-up you. 😉

Seriously though, I can't imagine doing it 3+ times. Or, I'd rather not.

😛😛😛😛😛😛😛 Well, I was going to post getting REJECTED, but I figured that was way too obvious. :biglove:

LOL... the doctor I work for said the same thing! I ended up having to go to her house and help her upload it to the site.... all without seeing the actual letter because I had waived my right to see it . I was surprised she even owned a computer at home.
