I'm looking for a new apron but info is scarce about best brand/model. So far it looks like the Bar Ray Variflex in prestige material is the lightest and is well designed http://www.zzmedical.com/x-ray-acce...prons/bar-ray-vari-flex-x-ray-lead-apron.html but this product by Demron looks very interesting:http://www.radshield.com/catalog/in..._id=19&zenid=5ecea803d1a9f215ef532e7ebcd1cce2. I have contacted the Demron folks to find out the weight of the gown but the articles on it look nice due to the longevity and thermal properties of the material.

Anyone really like what they are using?

Thanks....

Are you set on the single piece apron like that? If you are wearing it long enough for comfort to really be a concern, may want to check out some of the two piece ones. They are slightly more inconvenient to get on, but keeps a lot more of the weight on the hips, so you aren't having your shoulders tugged as much.

While I don't have extensive experience with them, that is what I've noticed.

I have never used a two piece although an x ray tech had mentioned that also. There must be someone here that likes their lead or lead-free. 😉

i use a single lead piece because its light and easy to put on if u are doing alot of cases, however the 2 piece is better in terms of more protection especially from scatter radiation to the back. I guess most IR guys will go with the 2 piece due to better shielding.
