I've always heard that Tulane is a good school and often heard it referred to as the "Harvard of the South". After doing a bunch of research on med schools, Tulane is definitely my first choice. Tulane's average GPA for matriculation is only a 3.46, which is obviously a bit low compared to most other med schools. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was something else that the Tulane adcom is looking for. My BCPM GPA is pretty low, but I've only taken Bio I & II, and Gen Chem I, so I still have a ton of science classes left. I haven't taken MCATs yet, which I know is huge in determining the likelihood of matriculation, but does anyone have suggestions on what I can add to increase my chances of admission into Tulane?

Major: Biology (B.S.), Pre-Professional Concentration
Minor: Chemistry
AO GPA: 3.98
BCPM GPA: 3.3
Overall GPA: 3.5
ECs: Hospital volunteer (Pedi Oncology)
Co-founder & President of Invisible Children club on campus

They like music and applicants that have eccentric qualities. They try very hard to put together a fun and laid back class, and actively screen against excessively competitive applicants.

They're also big on a demonstrated history of involvement in community service work. They're one of the few med schools I know of that actually require a certain number of community service hours of their med students. 👍 Also, apply early.

I don't know if this pertains to this thread or not, but I was just wondering if we still have hope of getting into Tulane. I know that Tulane just sent out a batch of rejection letters this past week. I am glad that I did not get one, but I have been finished and "under review" since mid-August. Is anyone in the same boat as me? Do we still have a realistic chance?

I second Apply Early.

I think you're good for getting an interview, I believe the interview is/was the most important part. Just be relaxed, enthusiastic about the interview and NOLA. Just stress the fact you want to enjoy your med school experience and that the most important thing is fitting in and getting along with your classmates, and just have a good time.

Let's just hope you are eligible for some financial aid... Tulane is expensive

Obviously, but I don't think Tulane has much money sitting around in the form of scholarships like some other top schools have.
